My childhood comprised of Hornby Trains and Toy Soldiers - life was so simple in the 60s! This exhibition took me right back there. On the day we went The Battle of Waterloo was being re-enacted & Napoleon was well on his way to winning (NOT!) The whole exhibition has been lovingly constructed by someone who understands the childhood delights of such toys. I peered into each case with such longing that my wife, in the end, had to drag me out BUT we will be back! Wish this had been in Cumbria when our boys were growing up - I could have explained my own childhood more simply Anyway I now have a grandson who has a treat in store. With an emphasis on TOY soldiers not āmodels soldiersā this modest building houses a lovely extensive collection, full of colour, history, interest and nostalgia. The presentation is straightforward but the important things; lighting, arrangements and information are all well executed.
