Randomly ended up in Silloth on Monday, August 11th after the M6 was closed at J42 Carlisle. It was lunchtime & the prospect of fish & chips appealed to us. Silloth Cafe was busy with a constant flow of customers placing orders & leaving soon after with their freshly coked food. We ordered three fish & two small portions of chips plus a portion of mushy peas. The food was piping hot when we sat down to eat it at a bench in a nearby park. The very warm looking gentleman in charge of the frying range must have decided that the fillets of fish were a bit small as each fish came with another smaller piece of fish. The batter was crispy & the the well cooked white flaky fish tasted superb. The chips were crispy/crunchy & not in the least bit soggy or greasy. The food we had was excellent & we enjoyed every mouthful. The staff taking the orders & payment were friendly & helpful. Based on our experience we would recommend Silloth Cafe & would definitely order from here again if we were in the area. Good value, good quality takeaway food like we enjoyed at Silloth Cafe is a rarity these days. Thank you.

So many people have recommended trying the fish and chips here, so whilst visiting Silloth-on-Solway today, at a sensible hour, they were open. There was a good queue to get in, which is always a sign of a good chippy. I opted for the cafƩ today for the sit down in comfort option. The staff were lovely, very welcoming. I chose my table, then ordered and paid at the till. Fish and Chips with mushy peas and a pot of tea. With it being a Sunday, there was also a full roast dinner on offer. The portions of which looked very generous. Well, I was not disappointed. My meal was fabulous, although I probably won't need to eat for the rest of the week!!! There was old school pudding and custard available for afters today, I opted out on this occasion. There was plenty of space in the cafƩ which was fully accessible. The toilets were very well kept, also fully accessible, and the sign made me proper chuckle. I will definitely be visiting here again.

Visited with friends and we all enjoyed our fish and chips lunch. Everything was freshly cooked and served hot. Fish was delicious and batter crispy. One of our party had the smoked unbattered sausage and again this was delicious. Chips were excellent, nice chunky size and not greasy. Good choice available. I addition to the cafe, they also offers takeaway and local delivery (delivery after 5pm). Worth visiting when you're in Silloth.

Food used to be lovely and so cheap but has it been sold and bought over? Staff have to work on their customer service. Seem to be a bit more friendly with local people but we are all customers regardless. Recently went back and the same again. Didn't even greet us as we arrived in the shop and we waited to be served. Said hello just to be ignored. Basic common courtesy wouldn't go a miss. Such a shame as I thought being polite and friendly would have been standard. Whoever owns this, please work on your manners as it's finally driven us away. Absolutely shocked by the cheeky red carpet response I got from the owner. You do realize that probably half your takings are from holiday makers? You have zero customer service skills and are so so rude. I hope everyone sees this and never goes back to your shop. It's so simple too. Rule one, you greet the customer and be polite. Rule 2 you say thank you and goodbye instead for that smart slimy comment. So angry as it's customers that are keeping your business open to be treated like that is disgusting. You should not be in this industry if you can't take constructive criticism. The way you attack people when they criticize you is not the way to handle it. If you were any type of owner you would look the reviews in a constructive way and remedy it but you don't. I know what you can do with your red carpet response but I'll leave that up to your own imagination. I notice it's only locals that leave good reviews because you treat them differently. Absolutely appalling attitude when plain manners would suffice. The problem is much deeper though as your chips are half cooked and your fish is so oily it's uneatable. Maybe going back to college to learn how to cook might do the trick🤮 They might teach you how to work on your manners at...

Went to my favourite chip shop today , had my best friend with me Betty my beautiful old English mastiff, soon as I stepped in the doorway, a person behind the counter, said to me get that dog out it's not allowed in a firm tone , I said to him last time I was in the staff said it was ok , they absolutely loved Betty my dog , so I went outside to tie Betty up , returned back in the shop the same person was just staring at me giving me the evils, wow I thought great customer service wow , tbh I felt a bit uncomfortable what no customer should feel , I asked the person what's your problem with staring at me, he replied look in the mirror, how rude was this pathetic guy , even the person behind me said to me what's that's guys problem working behind the counter, I said you tell me ? Lol, the person working behind the counter wasn't English, this attitude needs serious attention, definitely not a dog lover , I actually thought this place was dog friendly, obviously not, all I ask respect your customers speak nice , this is far from what I got today , but tbh all the other staff we're great, if this disgrace of a man is ever in again ,me and Betty my dog won't be , please get some no dogs allowed sign's, that will sort everything out , Like I said before I actually thought it was dog friendly as myself and Betty have both been in before, such a shame one bad egg can spoil everything, I'm getting the feeling,,,,,,, New owners maybe ?????, if so bring the old ones back šŸ‘ or get rid of that bad...
