We visited on the 24th August 2021 at around 3/4 in the afternoon. the place was quiet and we were ushered to a table with no delay, we quickly moved tables though as there was food on the floor at the foot of the table, we alerted a member of staff who acknowledged it.

I ordered a New York burger, my wife had Chili fries and my children wanted plain chips, for drinks there was a pint of Moretti, a Coke and 2 fruit shoots, this came to £26ish which i thought was reasonable.

We waited around 10 minutes and all the food arrived at once {as requested} our waitress then brought our cutlery and drinks.

The food was very nice and we have no qualms regarding the size or quality.

The place remained quiet throughout our visit, yet the dropped food we told the staff about remained on the floor. there didnt seem to be any staff shortages, in fact it seemed well staffed with at least 3 floor staff on duty, plus kitchen staff.

They were playing a Rod Stewart 'sings the blues' type CD. this isn't my cup of tea, however I can't mark them down for that.

It's 4 stars only because of the food that was on the floor for our...

Very bad experience unfortunately. Looking at the menu, it looked very promising and we were looking forward to having lunch.

After we ordered two tables got their food before us, even though they arrived after I ordered. We ordered sandwiches, chips and a tea cake, which shouldn’t take the 45 minutes it did. When it did come out, the chips weren’t even ready yet. When the waitress brought one portion of chips, she asked if we would like anything else. I politely told her we’re expecting two other portions of chips, which to my surprise, she rolled her eyes and clearly angrily walked away. Once everything had arrived, we were a bit disappointed with the quality. The ‘mozzarella’ in one of the sandwiches was orange. Now I’m no cheese connoisseur, but I’m not sure mozzarella is that colour. The ‘cheddar’ cheese on the chips was also the exact same bright orange. Hmm… At the bottom of one of the chips was also about a few tablespoons of oil, which meant we couldn’t actually finish it. There was one waitress, of the three that served us who actually apologised for the wait, other than her we felt...

Decor inside was themed around a local historical figure known as 'Mrs Wilson', tables were clean and service was friendly and quick.

Ordered a hot chocolate, cappucino and a 'freakshake' - more on that later. The little one enjoyed the hot chocolate, but she's five so what does she know?

Cappucino drinker commented that the milk was close to boiling hot and that there was far too much of it. Very common in a lot of mid range coffee places but this one claims to be a 'coffee house'.

I had the £6.95 Oreo 'freakshake'. Normally when I spend that kind of money on a milkshake, I'd expect it to be made with milk, icecream, with the chosen ingredient - in this case Oreo, blended together to form a thick and creamy milkshake.

What I got was a milkshake glass with some chocolate sauce dripped onto the inside, filled with plain, close to room temperature chocolate milk, with some cream and a solitary Oreo balancing on top. It was chocolate milk, for £6.95. Easily the worst milkshake I've ever had, and it was advertised as the 'freak-shake'. Fairly decent place but have to be brutal purely for...

Really impressed with the inside of this bistro.....beautifully decorated and very atmospheric we had 2 jacket potato's with Tuna mayo and 2 drinks £25 it was ok but hardly any butter and potato cooked in microwave....we didn't have to wait long but it was look warm....we didn't want to complain for them to re heat in the microwave... think we prefer oven cooked jacket potatoes but now we know we will return and choose a sandwich next time. It came with side of salad and coleslaw......we enjoyed our drinks of tea and coffee. One other thing is to make sure you don't need to visit the toilet if you have mobility problems......I opened a door thinking it was the downstairs loo to find it was the kitchen....staff said toilets are upstairs ....I said to the lady mam 93 and stroke survivor but limited mobility she didn't say there was another one she could use ? so we will return but atleast we know for future.....

I visited Mrs Wilson's today, the food was nice and the quality in general was good. The staff seemed friendly and we were served quickly and efficiently and enjoyed our meal. Having browsed the menu, I do have to agree with other reviews somewhat that quite a few of the menu items do seem very overpriced, even in our post Brexit inflationary times. £9.95 for a jacket potato is a bit much, I can walk a short way down the road and buy one for £6 at Bessie's in Winters. £3 for a bottle of diet coke, again expensive. The flapjack is tasty, again though £4.50 per piece? I do however think the Cumberland breakfast is reasonable value. But overall don't go here expecting it to be cheap. Decide for yourself if it's for you. The food is recommended though.

Stopped here with the kids for a drink an a quick bite. Overall drinks were ok coffee was ok but for a coffee house could be better. Milkshakes were good and kids loved them but don't think at £8 a milkshake they were that great. Great big pot of of tea but only one sugar. Menu was limited and seemed to lack light bite for me and everything else seemed abit pricey. £3.50 for a small bowl of chips and nearly £8 for pulled pork chips which was a tiny bit of pork and loads and loads of gooey fat 'in pictures' abit of BBQ sauce and some cheese thrown onto. Was abit much. Young lad who served us was excellent and polite however lady behind the counter was a little abrupt. Menu doesn't really help with allergens etc.
