The Southampton Cenotaph is a deeply moving and beautifully designed memorial, honouring those who sacrificed their lives in times of conflict. Situated in the heart of the city, it is a solemn and peaceful place for reflection. The architecture is striking, with intricate carvings and inscriptions that pay tribute to the fallen. The surrounding area is well-maintained, with benches and greenery that add to the respectful atmosphere. It’s a poignant reminder of history and a significant landmark in Southampton. A visit here is both humbling and inspiring, especially during Remembrance events. 🌹🇬🇧

Tragically sad to see a memorial who lost their lives in WW1/WW2 in such a poor state. The Cenotaph itself is most growing green, this doesn't happen over night. Its been like this for a long time. The pavement around the glass memorial was lethal. It was so slippery due to the algae and moss growing on it, again not happened overnight was dangerous for anyone, but mostly the elderly. This wouldn't take much for a team to come out with a jet wash and clean it up . I'm sure everyone would agree this is not the right way to respect our fallen who gave everything so we could have our today.

….At the going down of the Sun and, in the morning, we SHALL remember them. Please be respectful of this place and review it for what it stands for. They gave their lives so we could have ours. Posting derogatory comments about the surroundings is not helpful and vitriolic.

I visit the cenotaph every year for rememberance sunday. Its for personal reasons,i have seen war and i find the service very humbling, and not being selfish,it does make the memories easier that day.8th May 2020.I knew i wouldn't be alone for VE day here at the cenotaph and was very moved by what i was part of today.I imagine the only people who had prior knowledge were the three men who performed the ceremony. There was a massive round of applause for the buglers and the ex paratrooper. It's all on film somewhere for posterity. That moment really was something very special.Thank you gentlemen, and everyone else that was there.Thank you all for making this such a memorable day when everyone clapped. There were so many people walking through the park that stopped and we became one.. ..To absent friends. All of them,in the present as well as in war.We...
