The Scholars Arms — Restaurant in Southampton

I had 1 small sip from the espresso martini after I bought it, then after few minutes I gained some courage to speak up about it so I came back to the bar with the glass still full. The staff has been incredibly rude as I mentioned on the review, and I took the glass back to my table. The rude lady then was clearing up, and my partner put the glass at the end of the table so she would pick it up and she did. The photo was taken after I complained. Either you are covering for your staff, or the staff are lying to you - which is not my problem.

Worst customer service. Ordered Espresso Martini for 7.99, and they didn't use actual coffee. I tried it, and it tasted just like syrup, really unpleasant. I went back to the bar and told the bartender that it's really unpleasant. She went to tell the guy that made it, and he looked at me with an angry look and walked past me. Then this other girl came and told me 'some people like it, some people don't, you're not getting a refund for it'. I asked for another drink and they said I could buy another one. I felt so belittled in such a short conversation with their words, tone, and attitude. What kind of service is that? Will never be...

Nice pub but awful and rude staff. Visit this pub often and attended again as a group of 12 for a works night out. Arrived at the pub at 4PM empty pub had a fantastic time, hit 6.15PM the pub is completely packed and the staff walk over and slap a reserved sign on our tables for 7PM telling us we have to move... after questioning this, the response was that somebody had phoned up and booked, she was awfully rude and said “there was no time frame on when they could put a reserved sign down, and they could put them on whenever they want. If we have an issue then she will give us a number to book next time” Being regular customers we were very surprised at the attitude of the staff.. we were reluctant to move as we had all just bought new drinks.. they then come over at 6.45 and tell us if we did not move off the table we would be kicked out of the pub.

We then move, of course the reserved table did not arrive, they unreserve the table and let another random group sit there whilst we’re all stood. More than happy to move if asked politely, but the attitude of the staff at this place is...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Scholar Arms in Southampton, and I can confidently say it was an exceptional experience! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a cozy meal.

I ordered the fish and chips, and it was simply outstanding. The fish was perfectly battered and fried to golden perfection, flaky and tender on the inside. Paired with crispy chips, it was a classic dish done right. But what truly took it to the next level was the curry gravy. Rich, flavorful, and just the right amount of spice, it added a unique twist that I didn’t know I needed. It complemented the fish beautifully and made for a delightful combination.

The service was attentive and friendly, making us feel right at home. If you're in Southampton and looking for a place that serves top-notch fish and chips with a creative flair, The Scholar Arms is a must-visit. I can't wait to return and try more...
