I went by yesterday to ask about pricing for a new game coming out, the Gundam TCG. I was told that they are running the price at $190 per booster box, when the MSRP is $120, because that's what "market price" is right now. I can't even get into their event with my best friend because the slots are full, which is the only way to get market price with them. This store needs sealed and opened pricing, like my hometown store in WI or the other local store in town, Knight Owl, does with Pokémon: sealed product goes for market price, opened product goes for MSRP. Also, let players in the store have first go at getting product to buy opened if it's limited in stock.
To Gathering Place: it doesn't cost you more to get products from a distributor. Actually be a store for players and we'll stick around for years. Don't use "market price" as an excuse to price gouge: you're just scalping, too, all to maximize profit over players. Yes, I heard from someone in the store about a free event you ran for the game where everyone got one free deck, but then you also turned around and charged $90 for a $35 box with a deck and figures, and $25 for a $12 starter deck for people to get any more of the cards. And while free events are cool to grow a community around a card game, with your pricing it just feels like it was to get people invested to buy products at these higher prices. Please, as a player who just moved to town, and for all other actual players out there: make it easier to play these games. Don't be unethical just because others in...
Read moreEdit: putting this down to one star because they will constantly lie about thier pricing to PLAYERS in thier community.
Decent place to play if that's all you're going to do. The community is nice and the player base is healthy, however the reason I'm giving 2 stars is thier prices. I've visited and played at multiple card shops all over Austin before I started playing here and they have all been adequate about their pricing some more than others but never more than 10 dollars over market price and buying cards at 65 percent market price, very reasonable. At this establishment however I continually see items at well over double market value constantly, for example there were OP-12 double packs for sale at the time of release no way I was getting that at retail price so I figured probably $25 pricey but fair enough. Nope, that double pack with a measly 2 packs and a Don pack was $40! Outrageous. Additionally the way they do their trade ins is horrendous as well because instead of doing what everyone else does and do a percentage based off of market value they look at the lowest sold and give you that price. There's a reason there is a market value in the first place it's to adequately and accurately buy and sell cards. Again there are wonderful people there and in their communities but their business practices are...
Read moreI love this place and have been going there for years but I went today and picked up about 50 pokemon cards from their thousands of bulk they have available. And the entire time I was checking out, the cashier girl was complaining about how she had to count that many cards, kept saying it was cruel, etc. I have a feeling she was joking but I had never seen her before so I had no idea. I shrugged it off the first and second time she complained but then she just kept doing it. The whole 3 or 4 minutes I was standing there waiting patiently, she was complaining about how she was going to charge me triple just because she had to do her job. Thats wild lol. Just count the cards, thank me for my business and let me leave with in peace without feeling guilty that I made you do something other than sit there in front of the register on a stool on your phone. I dont know if there are other girls that work there but the one who I mentioned had like black hair with blue highlights. I never really leave reviews on places especially negative ones but next time I go there, if shes sitting at the register, Im leaving lol. Im not going to buy more cards if Im going to be guilt tripped just for getting more than...
