So disappointed in some of staff as clearly racist. After standing in line for over 3 hrs the ticket person had us stand to the side and 2 groups behind us was allowed in the attractions b4 us. When i asked doesnt it go in order of tge line, his response was oh he must have forgot where he left off. Not sure how when the lines were marked and he had something he moved as he let the groups go. They tell you don't touch the staff while walking through the attraction but as we are exiting my nephew yelped stating she 'tased' my leg with something, that hurt. There was someone walking on stilts, amazed my nephew asked is that part of the costume, ashe was pointing his finger touched the guy, if looks could kill! the instant look of disgust and then he wiped his arm. only taking photos with white guest in line, ignoring others that asked. At the next attraction my son asked why was she on the other side at the other attraction, (innocent question, he didnt k ow they work both sides) she looked at him and said, I work here, why are you here. This is the same clown that i watched refused to speak to or take pics with anyone of color, but posed for a few pics with white guest in line. The woman's response was beyond inappropriate. Now all of a sudden she had a voice, the tone was rude, the group of ppl she was standing with turned to look at him laughed and stared. He asked why did she respond like that I was asking because she was working on the other side which still had a line. I will say my son and nephew had been looking forward to the trip all day but left feeling treated unfairly... It's unfortunate the staff behaved so poorly because the attractions are...
Read moreWe had a fantastic time doing the $40 Bite and Fright on Sunday night. The ticket price includes picking a meal from the special dinner menu at The Abington Ale House and access to the 2 attractions (Haunted Mansion and Sanctuary) at Barrett's Haunted Mansion.
It's a 1-hour drive from North Quincy and a 15-minute drive from Randolph. There are people outside to direct parking and the signage is easy to read, highly visible. Note that Bite and Fright tickets can only be purchased at the Ale House or at Barrett's ticket office - not online. If you are with more than 4 people, make your dinner reservation for 5 pm/6 pm to avoid a long wait for a table and to be able to get in the line for the attractions early. Another option is to eat at the bar. Beware! There are only 2 stalls in the women's restroom in the Ale House. Be prepared for a long line. There are several Porto-potties outside around the attractions.
The performers are very good at what they do and did a great job keeping such a large crowd hyped and interested. Be considerate. Ask to take photos of the performers before doing so. Sometimes having several bright flashes going off without warning is disconcerting. No one is allowed to take photos while going through the attractions. There are TV screens to watch clips from various horror movies while waiting in line. The performers also move through the line to entertain visitors. Plenty of gory horror props are positioned throughout the premises. Fried dough and other snacks are available, too. Credit and debit cards are accepted, but still bring some cash for the food carts. T-shirts and souvenirs are available...
Read moreNOT WORTH IT. I'm in shock that this place is considered to be one of the best in New england. My husband and I go to many many haunted houses every year and tried Barrets for the first time. We went on a Sunday night (expecting it to be less busy), and it was still PACKED. We got there just after opening and did not get RIP(vip) passes due to the price. We sat in the line for the new attraction for an hour and a half before going into the condemned attraction where we were out in 4 minutes, literally 4 minutes. It's not worth it. So then we go get in line for the main attention, and the guy tells us it's a 2.5 wait. Nopeee. But we already paid so much to get in and drove so far. We decided to get the RIP for just this attraction. That got us in in about 30 minutes. All the staff were talking about how crazy slownit was that night because the guy inside wasn't timing things right. Once we finally get in, it took us 7 minutes to get through it. In our opinion, this was NOT worth it, especially if you don't pay for RIP. Even if I lived closer, I wouldn't return here. If you do go, definitely pay the expensive RIP prices, or you'll be sitting in the freezing cold for HOURS on end. I gave a 3 star only because of the work that went into the props and the work of the actors, not because I think it's worth it. We have paid less for highly quality experiences. They clearly have a huge following due to their unique experience at the beginning of the mansion, but to pay $65 for a 7 minute walk through and 4 minute condemned walk through? Please save your money and go...
