I went to Haveys because I had been there once before and really liked it. I'm from DesMoines and like to support smaller businesses. I arrived an hour before it closed. It had the sign on in the window and parked in lot to the side. The door was open and i saw two boys and a man there. They saw me walk in and i said hello and the man said hello back. He proceeded to walk passed me and say, "come on boys." Nothing else was said. I walked around for about 10 minutes and found no one around. I came out to see the same guy at the house next door so I thought he would come back to help me. Finally I walked out and saw him and what appeared to be his wife in the car looking at me. Again nothing was said to me. I walked to the front where it said on the door they were closed due to the heat. I wasnt upset about them closing early because I understood. I felt like I was going to pass out being there, so I get it. The thing I'm truly upset about is this guy saw me and never said they were closed I would have said that's fine. Rude customer service, he obviously didn't care about my time..I just came all the way from DesMoines to have almost passed out in his store with no one around. I see from pictures and posts he is the owner. Truly...
Read moreGreat selection, but their prices are not current (still charging quite a bit for certain house plants), and they are not well marked. I choose a plant from a tray that said $5. Some of the plants weren't marked at all, but common sense dictates that they'd all be $5 since they were the same pot size and plant.
It rang up at $10 and I wasn't given an explanation on why when I told her the others were $5.
I returned it because I felt that was too much for the plant I was getting. I also felt like I was tricked into buying it. I'm not down with that so I won't be returning.
If they would just be more clear and fair on pricing I'd have bought quite a bit.
(Pictured is the really awesome Staghorn fern they had I found very...
Read moreI walked around for about ten minutes looking for someone to help me. The first employee I found walked past me without taking her eyes off of her phone. A bit confused and irritated I decided to leave. On the way out I noticed a room with a table in it with 3 other employees sitting at it. I stopped in the doorway and waved at them expecting at least one of them to ask if I needed help. Instead, not a single one even acknowledged my presence. Perhaps this is just a rare occurrence or they were having a bad day I don't know but I'll be taking my...
