I shop at Aldi almost every week. Their prices are unbeatable, especially for milk, eggs, and bread. The staff are always friendly, the stores always clean. Aldi stores sell the staples as well as Mexican cuisine and Indian simmer sauces. They sell good European chocolates, including dairy free dark chocolate bars which are amazing!
Aldi stores also no longer sell food with MSG and have moved away from GMO foods as well. I love purchasing their organic chicken broth.
Some of the unique shopping considerations for Aldi stores: They operate like a European grocery, meaning they do not have free grocery bags at the checkout, you have to pay a few cents per bag, so better to bring your own. You also have to have a quarter in order to get and use a cart, which ensures that people return their carts and Aldi doesn't have to send staff to collect them from all over the parking lot and bus stops.
My hesitations about Aldi stores are these: The produce isn't great. Peppers, onions, pineapple, and mushrooms are fine, but the leafy vegetables, the bananas, or berries are all very unflavorful and go bad quickly... poor quality. While they do sell Mexican Cuisine ingredients, they don't carry a lot of Asian cuisine. And the tortillas they sell stick together in the bag and shred apart when trying to use... poor quality. Some products Aldi only sells irregularly, like Chocolate almond milk, flavored extracts, etc. Sometimes they have it, sometimes they don't. Which means I have to hit up more than one store each week. The lines are often long as they don't have many staff on site to man more registers.
So, purchasing prepackaged products at these stores is usually a safe bet, and a great value, but there are exceptions (like tortillas). Their bread and eggs are fine as well. But don't count on the produce.
*side note: The Aldi in Fairlawn has a larger selection, and better layout (recently remodeled) than most...

If you come in this place with a backpack and are law biding citizen, but if you fit the description of a thief or look suspicious, you may get profiled by one particular manger during checkout. She will ask you to open your book bag to inspect for stolen items. Also watch out for the over sized 300lb black security guard that works between Aldi's and Dave's Super Market on Exchange street as well. After being profiled by that one particular security guard He would allow other individuals with book bags to go about their business , while asking the accused to live their backpack up front. This place could have a 3 to 4 rating but because of being accused of stealing after doing business with this store for the last 3 to 4 years I will have to give it a -1 and that's because of the two bad apples that represent the store. Two bad apples can ruin it for everyone, on top that, they don't care because for every one good customer lost 10 will...
Read moreThis Aldi's is okay! They have a variety of different foods and other things. The prices are very reasonable and the product is well above average in taste and quality! Though they don't keep things on the shelf for very long. Say if you like Iced Coffee, they will have it for a month or two then it's....GONE! It's happened with quite a few items I became accustomed to having in my fridge, lol! Very frustrating at times! They also have a ton of seasonal items! Right now there are a ton of Xmas stuff and gift ideas! No gift cards, only ones for their store chain. They have handicap accessible parking. They do not have the electric scooters for those that can't walk to well. The bathrooms aren't dirty, but cld be cleaner. Half the time they say they're out of order. The staff are ok. The Manager isn't very approachable. Smiles very little. When asked a question she refers you to a different worker. Seemed like I was bothering her! The rest of the staff I've come acrossed has been wonderful. All smiles and willing to do whatever it takes to help me! Overall this Aldi's is OK. Wld I go out of my way to come to this store...NO. But it's in my neighborhood and my only choices are Aldi's or Save a lot. My choice is definitely going...
