Yesterday, my mom and I were just passing by Stark State College, looking for a little shade from the hot sun. We decided to sit on a bench outside, and my mom, who is 54, needed to use the restroom. We approached a janitor to ask for help, and while they seemed a bit unsure, a member of the safety staff came out with absolutely no hesitation. He insisted that we could use the restroom, and that simple act of kindness was truly the highlight of my day. It's amazing how a small gesture can make such a huge difference and leave a lasting impression. While I was waiting for my mom, I got a quick peek inside, and the campus looked so welcoming and well-kept. I'm actually scheduled for a tour soon because I'm interested in taking classes this fall, and that brief experience made me feel so welcomed before I've even become a student. I want to give a special shout-out to the closing janitorial and safety staff—your kindness really goes a long way. Thank you for making us feel at home, even if it was just for a...
Read moreI really do love going to school here, but the testing center was rough this time. I’m usually fine taking my quizzes and exams there, and the two women who normally run it are super nice. But this time there was a guy working, and he was so loud.
I was trying to take my test, and he kept talking nonstop—like full-on conversation level—and going in and out of the door over and over. It was distracting to the point where I could hear everything he was saying, and I couldn’t really focus on my exam at all. He was even talking about random stuff like the bathroom and “back in the day,” and I’m sitting there just trying to finish my quiz.
I don’t know if the testing center is supposed to be quiet or not, but every other time it has been. No one ever talks that loud for that long. I honestly couldn’t believe it because I’ve never had that experience here before.
Still a good school overall, but the loud talking and constant in-and-out made it really hard for me to concentrate this time. This was on...
Read moreThe testing center in Akron is so difficult. Everytime I come here there’s a problem. Today I tried to take my test and since they didn’t see me on paper or in the system they wanted to see my schedule which is insane and make it seem like I’m a liar. & then I said it’s on blackboard I need to sign in anyway she tried to make me walk out the room and sign in on the computers by the elevator & I said no I have work at 10 and the test is 45 minutes long with multiple choice. This needs to change back to the beginning If anyone has a test all you need to bring is your phone to get the security text and your ID no matter if your in the system or not. The time before that it was a problem with my watch being on my arm anybody who owns an apple watch know you can’t access anything on the watch without your phone being a...
