What a waste of time and money! We drove 90 minutes to see a concrete structure with glass and steel that looked as if industrialism threw up on art deco, and someone forgot to clean it up. There are three floors to this overly large monstrosity, yet only part of one floor was set up for any exhibits of the vomitous mixed media crap that the individuals running the museum consider works of excellence. I would rather be forced to stare at a Jackson Pollack than return to this garbage receptacle. The people my wife and I encountered were just as somber and unpleasant as the building. From the person at the parking booth exit to the curator(?) all were devoid of any smile or enjoyment. As if this wasn't enough, the museum itself promotes illicit drug use by placing sharps collection containers in the non-gender specific bathrooms. The so-called art that infests the building, with the exception of a few paintings, should all be piled in the concrete "garden" and set aflame if only to save society from their confused ideology. Avoid this place...
Read more(Long review) I was recently apart of operations/event coordinatoring for a gala fashion show launch here at AAM. It was an amazing event that would have not been so amazing without the staff. From all the last minute changes that they where able to adjust and change to, the staff were extremely accommodating, and made this day run smoothly. I really can't thank them enough for everything they have done. They even saved my LIFE!!! (Yes saved my life) I had passed out in the green room while the show was happening, and they made sure to go above and beyond with providing aid, water, and medical attention. By the time I woke up, EMT was right there taking care of me. I will forever be grateful for their unwavering dedication, passion, and eagerness to help. They rallied around me to support and make sure I was ok. I am currently crying writing this because they are my hero's FOREVER ♥️ They consistently checked on me and because of that I was able to finish out the show strong. Thank you soooo much for all you have done for me and the show....
Read moreThe Akron Art Museum was the perfect wedding venue. My wife and I chose them as our venue in July ‘23, and were married in September of ‘24. Once we chose them as our venue, they gave lists of preferred caterers and recommended vendors in the area, which made our planning process a lot easier. There were some staffing changes because we had a long engagement, but Ellie, Cydney, and Becca were all wonderful to work with as events managers and made the transition in positions extremely smooth for us. Guests LOVED the museum, as the ceremony was in the garden, and then they were able to hang out on the terrace and explore the exhibits during cocktail hour. The lobby was a gorgeous venue for dinner and dancing, and our entrance on the grand staircase was unforgettable. We truly could not have chosen a better venue. Thank you so much to all the events staff at the Art Museum for making our wedding day so wonderful!! (photos by Jessica Lee...
