I was excited to try this place as it was suggested by a friend. I picked Chicken Tikka Masala to go. It came in 16 oz plastic soup container with some (about 8 oz) rice in a separate paper box. The price was $15. No napkins, no forks, no salt and pepper, etc. They wanted to add sales tax for my carry out order, but I told them they should not and then they removed it. So, you should pay attention to the tax portion of your receipt.
I have to say that I am disappointed with their Chicken Tikka Masala, because it was very liquid and runny, with just 5-6 pieces of chicken cubes that were hard to tell how they were cooked. The sauce was delicious although iI felt some form of sweetness in it, which was not my expectation and not my taste. I cannot tell if they used coconut milk/cream, which would not be my preference. I was expecting a thicker sauce and lots of Chicken meat in it that was cooked in tandoor. However, that was quite below my expectation.
It was my first try and probably it will be the last as well. I can have a buffet for that price elsewhere. I am not paying $15 for 16 oz Masala sauce with a few pieces of chicken and with a little rice again.
I did not dine in, but I waited for my order inside. The ambiance has no attraction. There is no atmosphere that will encourage you to eat inside and enjoy your food more. The walls look as if they were covered with dust and not painted for a long while. The tables are covered with cheap table clothes. I saw other customers eating inside. Their food was served in plastic / foam plates, with the cheapest plastic forks and spoons. They offer dishes with the prices of classy restaurants without offering adequate quality food and service. Running a restaurant requires cooking skills as well, and vision for customer service in hospitality industry. Both are below my...
Read moreA close friend of mine who is a restaurant critic for the local newspaper suggested my son and I try HEERA after attending an outdoor yoga class in downtown Akron. Don't be fooled by the casual decor, the food is equivalent to some of the finest Indian Cuisine we've sampled in New York and London’s Michlin-starred Indian establishments. Shailendra Sahu is the owner and chef and he is a culinary genius. Even though we entered during a rush of takeout orders, he took the time to prepare our vegan appetizers and entrees with special attention to detail considering our allergens. He suggested an amazing Papadom appetizer with fresh herbs, onions, tomatoes and cilantro. We had a bhindi masala (okra) that was some of the finest Indian fare I've ever savored. The spices were pleasantly blended in an aromatic sauce that featured okra braised with onions and tomatoes, and it was just heavenly. We requested the aloo gobi served spicy and it was just perfect. The spiciness didn't overwhelm the dish but complimented the cauliflower and potatoes with an additional layer of dimension. Both dishes reminded me of an impressionist chef-d'oeuvre - the colours and textures melding into a masterpiece to be devoured and savoured. We requested two different types of bread - a roti, and a paratha - both were scrumptious! We enjoyed our chai tea, had a lovely conversation with Sahu, and sous chef Emmanuel, and vowed to...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to dine at Heera Indian Cuisine with my family. We started with the samosas, which were perfectly crispy and filled with a flavorful potato and pea mixture. For our main courses, we ordered the chicken tikka masala, the palak paneer, and the biryani. The chicken tikka masala was creamy and flavorful, with tender pieces of chicken cooked in a rich tomato sauce. The palak paneer was a delicious vegetarian dish made with spinach and paneer cheese. The biryani was fragrant and flavorful, with rice, meat, and vegetables cooked together in a sealed pot.
We also ordered a variety of sides, including the naan bread, the raita, and the dal makhani. The naan bread was fresh and fluffy, and the raita was a refreshing yogurt-based condiment. The dal makhani was a delicious lentil dish that was cooked to perfection.
For dessert, we ordered the gulab jamun, which are sweet milk dumplings soaked in syrup. The gulab jamun were perfectly moist and flavorful.
Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience at Heera Indian Cuisine. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the prices were reasonable. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic Indian...
