Disappointing Experience at Crunch Fitness I recently had a highly unsettling experience at Crunch Fitness that compelled me to share my disappointment with the public. As a member since they opened in Alabaster, my longstanding affiliation with the gym made the recent issues all the more disheartening. From the moment I walked in, I felt an unwelcome atmosphere that made my workout experience anything but enjoyable. The first issue I encountered was the bizarre behavior of the employees. It seemed as though the staff had nothing better to do than stare at patrons, making them feel self-conscious and uncomfortable. Their insinuations and constant whispers among themselves created an atmosphere of gossip and rumors that permeated the entire gym. Instead of focusing on their duties and creating a positive environment, the employees seemed more interested in concocting stories about patrons. What truly crossed the line for me was the invasion of privacy during my workouts. I couldn't help but feel like I was being spied on by the very people who should be ensuring a safe and comfortable workout environment. It's disheartening to think that I came to Crunch Fitness to better myself physically and mentally, only to find myself constantly looking over my shoulder. What was even more disturbing was that some employees seemed to have a penchant for making up stories about patrons without any basis. It's unacceptable for staff members who don't even know a person to create false narratives and spread them around, potentially causing harm to someone's reputation. I came to the gym to focus on my fitness journey, not to become the subject of baseless gossip. Additionally, the lack of professionalism exhibited by the staff at Crunch Fitness left me questioning the integrity of the entire establishment. I expected a gym to be judgement-free zone where individuals could work on themselves without fear of scrutiny, but unfortunately, Crunch Fitness fell short of providing that experience. The only silver lining in this disappointing experience was the professionalism of their trainer Peter Taylor. He was the only employee who made me feel welcome and appreciated, showcasing dedication to his job and creating a positive environment for his clients current and former. However, even with Peter Taylor's exceptional professionalism, it may not be enough to convince me to stay at Crunch Fitness. The toxic atmosphere created by the rest of the staff overshadows the positive experience I had with him. As a member since the gyms opening, I am disheartened to see the decline in the welcoming atmosphere that initially drew me to Crunch Fitness. I hope that Crunch Fitness addresses the issues promptly to restore the positive environment that once defined the gym.
Crunch Fitness has demonstrated consistently poor business practices. They have been charging me for two memberships without my permission. Despite my repeated requests over the past month to reverse these charges, I have been met with excuse after excuse. Heather, Pauly, and Meagan, whom I've corresponded with, have all promised to "check on it next week" without any resolution. This is unacceptable, and surely the City of Alabaster and its council members do not want their citizens treated in...
Read moreWhere do we start. I have been in more gyms than this staff combined. I know a little about customer service. I have had issues with setting up my log in and my account and when went in on October 13, 2023, the guy who handled the payment on my account dominated the conversation (I did notice that he was more interested in getting back to the group conversation the staff was having and was rushing me along). I made the necessary payments and arrangements and left. I called back on Saturday morning, spoke to Katlyn, who was more interested in telling me what I could do than helping me. All she could say was that I could delete and redownload the app (what an idea, i never thought of that) and then i could access my account. That did not work. She gave me every excuse under the sun for why my account was bad. But never listened to understand. I called back a few minutes later, asked for a manager, was told that Managers do not work weekends. Whoever I spoke with had the same m.o., did not listen to understand. All I wanted to know was if my keycard still had access to an account and could I access the location where I am at for the weekend. I was told that the BANKCARD I had on file was wrong.
My account is "inactive" eventhough I paid for the account and the issues that were caused by ABC Fitness.
Katlyn calls me back in the middle of me typing this and now I'm uber pissed. She tries to smooth this over but her constant overtalking is horrible. She insults me by saying that I'm probably confused by the whole situation. I asked her as to why I would be confused and she said because her coworker messed up and didnt see that I had three accounts (????) two of which were inactive (in which someone should have the bright idea to actually delete them).
There are multiple issues here:
I find it disheartening to share negative reviews, I understand that perfection is unattainable, and mishaps are inevitable for any company. I believe occasional oversights can be forgiven, but when such lapses become ingrained in a company's culture, it merits critical evaluations, with the hope that positive changes will happen. Speaking out becomes needed to draw attention and seek improvement.
I have been with Crunch Alabaster since its opening day, which was the peak of its customer service. Unfortunately, since then, there has been a noticeable decline in their standards, and the apparent lack of concern makes the situation worse. While the community within the gym remains fantastic, it appears that the leadership is indifferent to keeping that positive atmosphere.
Previously, I used the showers, and get ready for work each morning. Now, due to the persistently unclean locker rooms and malfunctioning equipment left unattended for weeks or even months, I prefer taking extra time in the morning to shower at home. The lack of cleaning supplies, paper towels, and the need to bring personal items like cleaning towel and bar clips are additional challenges that have become routine.
Despite my love for the gym, its people, and the overall workout experience, the situation is not improving. While I appreciate the occasional early opening times, the frustration of arriving at 4:15 am, only to wait in the parking lot for almost 45 minutes due to the tardiness of the 'District Manager,' is disheartening.
The last thing I want is to search for other workout locations because of how much I enjoy being at Crunch Alabaster. However, I believe that this will fall on deaf ears, with potential responses merely promising improvements without concrete actions. True change requires leadership to address these issues proactively. Crunch Alabaster, we are asking you to do better, for the sake of those investing in your facility and the vision of creating a workout space. The ball is in your court, and meaningful actions will determine whether this review transforms into a positive...
