Treehouse Apartments — Local services in Alamo Heights

I don't even know where to begin with this complex.

First off the water gets shut off every other week with no warning, then when it is turned on there is dirt and particles in the running water for a couple of days. The water can be off for an 1 hour or 6 hours there is never a way to know. You are then stuck all day not being able to use your toilet, wash your hands, or any household chore that requires water. The water has been shut off right before my husband goes to work. You can guess how his day went.

Maintenance is inconsistent. Sometimes there are good workers who come the day after you put a work order in, but most of the time they never show up. It really depends who is hired at the time. I have had problems with maintenance in the past coming to fill in a work order and they leave trash on the floor or wipe their dirty hands all over my white towels and of course track mud all over the carpet.

These are old apartments so the ceilings have cracks in them and obviously leaks when it rains. Instead of fixing the ceiling the maintenance literally comes in a spray paints the crack in the ceiling with white paint that gets everywhere because they do not put a tarp down and there is white paint all over my furniture. They will do the same with mold which is another huge problem here. Its very hard to get rid of and I spend almost every week trying to bleach out the place. (Spoiler alert spray painting doesn't resolve the leaking or mold issue.)

Then we have the general areas such as the pool, laundry room, mail area ect. As you see in these pictures this is how the apartment always looks and there are roaches everywhere. Even the roaches are too good for this place. The laundry room is always a mess and half the time the floor is covered in water because the washer leaks.

Whatever you do, do not move in. I would give this place negative stars if I could because they don't even deserve one star. I've seen a couple of good reviews about this complex on here and I'm sure that they left the review on the wrong complex because I have talked to many neighbors about my problems and they have had the same issues as me and of course get out of here as soon as their lease is up. I have lived here for a year, all in all it isn't TOO bad. HOWEVER I have a few things I would have loved to know before I moved in... there are large rodents that live between the floors that wake up at night and run, claw and chew on the walls or something. Its creepy, gross and annoying. Also, this property is on a boiler system (no hot water heaters) and the boils goes out often which means several days without water. Also, after my lease is up they want to raise my rent from $899 to $1109 which I will NOT be paying which is why I am moving out. They also rarely clean the pool which makes it yucky and unusable in my book. These apartments are pretty old and were supposed to be CONDEMNED last year but somehow they slipped by and are still operating. I have never had a pest problem in my unit or anything, and the apartments are pretty quiet. If I need a light bulb replaced they do that quick but other than that... This place feel very scammy, i moved here temporarily because of military contract, the price that they advertised (around $875) only applicable if you sign for 1 year, otherwise it’s around 1100 per month. Which is fine since i know a lot of places do that but just a heads up. I lived there for one year, take care of the apartment well, everything stay the way they originally were when i first moved in. Tammy said after my contract done she will refund the deposit after 30-45 days if nothing broken (which nothing was broken).
