Marble Slab Creamery — Restaurant in Alamo Heights

I visited this location ( River Center Mall in San Antonio) on 7/20/23 at around 2pm. Marble Slab has been my favorite ice cream stop since I was a child, but the service at this location was truly awful. The young man who got our ice cream had just walked in carrying boxes when he took someone’s order. I watched him use his unwashed and ungloved fingers to stick his customer’s cookie sandwich together. Then when he took our order, he went to the counter behind him to get the ice cream which had been sitting out instead of in the freezer. It was half melted when he slapped it onto a cone and handed it to me dripping and running down my hands. My husband’s ice cream was also half melted sitting out on the counter. I’m sorry to say this was a very bad experience. I had to throw my cone away after only a few minutes of trying to stop the ice cream from dripping...

The older white lady that works in there is extremely rude. While fixing my daughter’s sundae I informed them that it should be in the small clear cup as pictured and like I’ve has several times. The older lady calls someone on the phone in front of me to ask them what cup it should be in “ because the Mom said it should be in the shake cup”. I’m assuming the person she called said it does in the other cup that the young lady was previously using. She then tells her “ next time use the one you were using” all this while my family and I are standing there. I was completely turned off and my husband and I decided not to order anything and just paid for our daughters. We usually go to the one on ih10 and huebner, however we decided to give this one a try since it's near our home. Never coming back. Came in around 9 pm and simple order for my kids is always the smallest so they won't be wasteful and they each get same 3 toppings. Employee said little toppings there was all she had. I was going to leave but by the time we reached the other location it would be too late. So we got my son 2 close enough toppings. After we ordered we sat down and ppl came in and then after that rush, employee started cleaning to close by 10 pm and then brought out the toppings from back, even the m&ms we had originally asked about that she supposedly didnt have.
