I usually don't go out of my way to review major chains. You always have to parse out the experience of the individual location with the experience with the corporation as a whole.
The reason I chose to review this location is because they are doing their corporation a lot of good in running a fantastic store.
To start, the staff at this location is exceptional, to say the least. Everyone I have interacted with has been extremely helpful, extremely friendly, and skilled at making suggestions without leaving me feeling pressured. The last part is critical. I understand there is a good amount of emphasis at GameStop to have employees pushing for pre-orders, add-on purchases, and memberships. That is very much par for the course in the modern brick-and-mortar corporate retail sphere. The thing is, I have often walked into a GameStop with a specific purchase in mind and left feeling hesitant to come back in a casual capacity. While I understand that you might improve your on-visit sales numbers by applying a little more pressure to the customer, the long-term issue is that you will likely discourage future casual visits, one of the best opportunities to capitalize on a customer looking for something to buy rather than having a specific item in mind. This is certainly the case with how I do my brick-and-mortar shopping.
This is all to say that I enjoy the way this particular store is run to such an extent that I always make it a point to drop by and see what kind of deals are going on or new games I might have missed. The staff is always there to make my experience a positive one and I probably spend quite a bit more money than I would have otherwise due to how expertly they handle their customers.
The store always looks good and shelves are organized, which counts for a lot considering they always seem to have a good amount of customer traffic. The staff knows what...
Read moreMe and my girlfriend have went there multiple times to exchange faulty controllers. The first time went fine but she made an account under her phone number and it kept disappearing for some reason? So it made it almost impossible to use any store credits. She went again a few months after that to return the pre-owned controller we had bought since it stopped working. They were very unfriendly and didn't believe her about our controller not working. And since they couldn't access her account due to the weird glitch the warranty we had on it now doesn't exist i guess? She bought another pre-owned controller from there and it was covered in dust and grime like they didn't bother to clean it even though they complained that one of the remotes she brought was slightly dirty. So i have to clean it and it has silver sharpie and an area where the remote was clearly burnt. And we couldn't even exchange one of our other controllers because they couldn't figure out how to connect it to the system to test it. Overall not the...
Read moreI get so upset when I come here and I expect to buy my game and I pre-ordered it but for some stupid reason they didn't bother to let me know or email me that the date has been pushed back 4 release. I waste the gas to come all that way just to be told no we don't have it yet. I know it's not them or their fault but they could at least email their customers who pre-ordered this that have a subscription to their Gaming magazine and power rewards player that they don't have the game in and it was pushed back. check online if you pre-order games because they will never let you know until you get there expecting to buy it and it's...
