I love shopping at JC Penneys normally, the associates are always very helpful and courteous, however today I felt like it was a bait and switch scam. I was shopping the final clearance racks and was going off the blue tags with the prices, this included clothing and toys. But when I was checking out, the clerk (who claimed she was a manager), peeled each tag off and was using a calculator to determine the price after either 50 or 70 percent off. I found this kind of odd. But she said it was a corporate thing to recheck. Almost all the items with a clearance tag, was apparently marked wrong. So it was more expensive than the clearance cost was. She was being rude and I asked for a manager, she said she was the manager, so i asked for her boss and she said they weren't in. So I had her call another manager over, and she honored a couple of the marked price but not all. It makes no sense to put a price tag if they are not going to honor them. So it seems like apparently who ever placed the tags on might of been a little short on some math skills or the calculator malfunctioned. This pretty much ruined the day, we were late for an appt because of all the checking and rechecking the math on the clearance tags. I even went and picked out identical clearance items and they were all marked the same, so I showed the clerk but she didn't seen to care. So very disappointing shopping experience today. Buyers be aware, the blue clearance tags are not final price, the clerk you get may honor there prices. But don't hold...
Read moreI went in to JCPenneys to replace a watch I brought from a different location. I found a watch I liked and wanted to try it on to see if it needed to be adjusted. So I waited at the Jewelry Counter for someone to help me. A gentleman named Ever came by I said he would page someone over to give me help as he was with another customer. About 5 minutes go by and no one had shown up. I overheard another employee talking to Ever asking when he was off and Ever said he was supposed to be off 10 minutes ago but the manager still hadnât shown up yet to relieve him so he couldnât just leave. He continued to help the other customer who was also very pleased with him and then he came over to help me. Ever was extremely kind and patient even though it was clear he wanted to go home. I never felt rushed and felt like he really cares to help his customers. The manager who was supposed to relieve him came in right as I was leaving 15 minutes after Ever paged her. I believe Ever is a fantastic employee and as a fellow manager of a retail store myself, I really appreciated his dedication to customer service. I also believe he is way more of a viable candidate to be the manager other than his colleague who showed up 15 minutes late. ...
Read moreHere's another department store that I'm glad is still available as an option to me for shopping. I think I may have said in other reviews that I love being able to actually see and touch clothes that I may potentially purchase. Shopping online is sometimes quite convenient. But what I found is they don't really represent the clothes very well. Sometimes clothes are bigger than they tell you they will be. Sometimes the colors are not right. Sometimes I just can't imagine how that will look on me until I get it. And if it looks terrible, I've got to send it back.
At JCPenney, I can touch the clothes, I can try the clothes on, I know what I'm buying and I like that! There's just no substitute for a department store.
If you're not convinced go take a look at the thousands of people who posted on YouTube and tick tock about the clothes they bought that don't look anything like what they were promised comma and had to be returned.
But sticking with jcpenney, I found them to be helpful and have a good selection that I could choose from. They are an old-time staple of Albuquerque and I hope that they continue to do a business here.
Sorry about not getting any pictures.
