I donāt usually leave reviews unless the service is either exceptional or disappointing. I visit this Nordstrom frequently, typically having a great experience, and I spend between $300 and $500 each month. My wife usually shops with me, but today she decided to go alone.
When she went to the bag section, the gentleman working there greeted another customer warmly and offered help but brushed past my wife and son without acknowledging them. No problem I understand that employees sometimes donāt want to disturb every shopper. However, when my wife and son moved to the open glass case to look at sunglasses, the same associate, who was helping an older couple with a friendly demeanor, glanced over at my wife and son, and his attitude noticeably changed.
My wife, seeing the other customers try on sunglasses, picked up a pair to check in the mirror. But instead of offering assistance, the associateās first comment was, āYou need to buy those before walking around with them.ā My wife responded politely, explaining that she just wanted to look in the mirror, but his tone remained cold and unapproachableā¦quite the contrast to his friendly interaction with the previous customers. This experience made her uncomfortable, and she decided to put the sunglasses back and not make a purchase. Unfortunately, after that interaction, she noticed that asset protection seemed to be monitoring her closely for the rest of her visit.
When she told me about this, I advised her not to buy anything further. Iāve worked in retail myself, from entry-level to salaried management, and understand the importance of asset protection and handling high-value items responsibly to prevent loss. However, itās equally important to make customers feel respected, not judged or treated as potential thieves. Customer service is essential in retail, and my experiences here are usually positiveā¦likely because, when Iām present, Iām dressed professionally due to my work. My wife, by contrast, often prefers comfortable clothing like sweats, which may lead certain employees to make assumptions based on appearance. Such profiling isnāt ethically or morally correct.
In conclusion, while Iāve generally had excellent experiences at this store, this encounter has negatively affected how my family and I feel about returning. I strongly suggest that management retrain associates on customer service and asset protection practices, emphasizing the importance of treating all customers with respect...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSecond time in your store. Very beautiful , clean etc. however , I went in with my significant other . He has cancer and I wanted this Fathers day to be special by buying him a good pair of shoes of his choice and along with that to be able to try them on for comfort. We are both in our late 60s. I am a legal secretary for a local non profit and am a frequent Nordstrom Rack online shopper for mostly clothing for myself. To make a long story short we both got followed throughout the store every minute we were there by a plain clothed gentlemen. There were plenty of other customers but I don't know why we were selected . It really hurt my feelings because I have been such a loyal customer for a while and I was so impressed by the appearance of your store the first time in that I decided to take my significant other along. He made the comment " I wish my daughter could see this store" , he was very impressed. I ended up spending around $175.00 and I didn't even get to buy or shoes for myself because I did not feel comfortable nor welcomed there anymore. I am aware of the shoplifting crisis in this community but I still cannot understand why we were selected , possibly because we are Hispanic. my significant other loved his shoes , socks and shirt so much that I won't be returning them , but I should have walked out without buying anything and visiting Coronado Mall instead. I am not visiting your store anymore either . I just had to get this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe limited selection in my price range was discouraging. I had a gift card for $25 and seemingly everything I actually liked was well over that price and would require me to spend money out of my own pocket. I found myself having to return to the store not once but 4 time in order to find something I liked and could afford. The selection at this store was limited not only in my price range but in my size, the selections in my size alone were not my style and to top it all off those out of style options were often too expensive also. I found a perfume I sampled and loved, only to find that they only had this particular perfume item on display to sample but not a single one available for purchase. So it felt like the purpose was to tease me, to spend time trying the different testers out just to find that most were out of stock and there is no way of buying them. Plot twist, there were many perfumes available to purchase without a tester out to sample the scent, a mystery scent selection if I may. They need to stay on top of this perfume display, itās appalling. On my 4th visit I finally found a backpack/purse that cost me about $20 out of pocket after using my $25 gift card. I do not suggest a gift card for this store unless the person likes/is familiar with this store and can afford it, and/or...
