Utility Shack — Local services in Albuquerque

This place is a true hidden gem. The name would never lead you to believe that it is really an amazing local shop for authentic Native American jewelry and other pieces. Neither would the location. But once you walk in you will be transported. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, but leave you alone until you are ready to interact with them. All the pieces (some heirloom) are created by local artisans. The staff know the provenance of each piece. They allow you to browse on your own, or are happy to make recommendations based on what you tell them you are looking for. The pieces are eclectic and beautiful. A wide selection of both modern and classic pieces. A "must visit" if you are looking for gorgeous Stirling and (real) turquoise. The staff include with each purchase a picture of the artisan, and information about the source of the turquoise if applicable. Highly recommended. I will return each time I visit Albuquerque. Outstanding selection of quality items at an unbeatable price point. I found exactly what I was looking for and they quickly and efficiently resized in for me on the spot. I was horrified to witness a very sad display of customer service. A young mom with a toddler came in and the little girl started jumping up and down and, admittendly, loudly exclaimed "so pretty"! The women at the front desk rudely said "this is not the store for you. We don't have time to babysit for you". The women stopped and we were all a little stunned. The selection and prices here are incomparable! Gorgeous pieces from local artisans from all sorts of different traditions, all of whom the owners know and have worked with for decades. There is so much New Mexico heritage in this one shop, it's incredible. Don't miss their estate section too, lots of unique vintage pieces with their own history all at great prices.
