A year later, Alcoa Kroger. It's 11:00 a.m. you have one person working the deli, SIX PEOPLE WAITING IN LINE! The fryers are not even filled with oil, it's 11:00 a.m. and I have a customer who wanted fried Chicken.
ADDITION: FORGOT TO MENTION WAITING 15 MINUTES AT THE DELI WITH SIX OTHER PEOPLE BECAUSE THERE'S ONLY ONE PERSON WORKING! She has been cleaning the meat cutter for 10 minutes.
I live in Maryville, Tennessee, and work as an independent contractor for Instacart.
This complaint is for BOTH Kroger stores in Blount county, one in Maryville, and one in Alcoa. These experiences happen CONSTANTLY, at both stores.
I just completed a batch at the Alcoa Kroger. I take great care with each item of produce, make sure I don't deliver dented cans, and take my insulated bags in, to keep my cold and frozen items cold as I shop.
After check out, I put all the cold and frozen items BACK into insulated bags, sometimes even doubling the bags, for the SAFETY of YOUR customers!!
Today it is pouring down rain.
On my first batch of the morning, I kept every cold item separate in my cart in an insulated bag, then put every cold item on the belt at checkout, first and separate from every other item.
I politely asked the cashier, Autumn, to relate to the bagger to please bag those items all together, separate from the other items.
I HEARD her relay this message to the bagger.
However, I STILL HAD TO LOOK through EVERY single bag in a $241 dollar order!
In the pouring rain and lightning.
In the slanted parking lot, with one foot on the cart, to keep it from rolling away.
Because a large yogurt (that went down the lane first) was STILL bagged with canned items (that went down the lane last).
I'm soaking wet, cold, angry and so frustrated.
I can't do any more than I am already trying to do, to get YOUR grocery items to YOUR customers in good shape.
I have mentioned this to managers at both stores, and yet it keeps happening.
At the Maryville Kroger about a month ago, both the cashier and the bagger rolled eyes and commented to each other how ridiculous it is that people even ask that they please bag the cold items separately, because they KNOW they're supposed to do that anyway.
Do you think we would ask if it was actually being done?!
Another problem that is making for extremely difficult shopping (in this age of items being hard to come by anyway), is that no one seems to be assigned, in either Kroger store, to simply go through the store and pull items to the front of the shelves.
I'm 56 years old, and 5 ft 2 inches. I have to literally get on the floor on my hands and knees to reach items. One of my knees is damaged, so this actually freaking hurts.
EVERY DAY, I have to climb shelves in the aisles. I have to climb into the freezer section and reach all the way to the back of the top shelf, trying to reach items for YOUR customers!
You have Instacart shoppers, Kroger shoppers, and regular shoppers, including many elderly folks. Why can't someone be assigned to pull stock constantly throughout your stores, for the convenience and SAFETY of us all?!
For some reason, I never have this problem at FOOD CITY.
I'm leaving one star. If things change, I'll definitely change my rating. It really bothers me to have to leave one star, because there are so many good people working at both Kroger's who are kind, thoughtful,...
Read moreWhat a frustrating experience and not the first time. Went at 8:30 this morning. The store was not very busy and picked up my 12 items and headed to checkout. 1 cashier lane open with 8 people in line. Self checkout was at least 12 people. Three female employees strolled, I mean strolled by in no big hurry to work or in any panic that we were all waiting. Saw three more chatting up front while we all stood in line. Nobody acknowledged us or said a word as they sauntered by. Everyone in line was frustrated. Stood in line for 20 minutes without moving and for the first time in my 55 year life I walked out of a grocery store. How can a manager have only one lane open with at least 6 employees doing nothing at 8:00 am in a grocery store? The other Kroger in town and the one in South Knoxville has never been like this one. I use the South Knoxville pharmacy for this exact reason even though this one is closer. I would use this one as my main because I use Rural King and Home Depot nearby so often. This is the world we live in where people just collect a paycheck and don’t feel they should work hard for it. Just sad. I hope this...
Read moreToday’s experience was terrible. First the store waited until about 10 minutes prior to my pickup time to text to say there would be an additional hour wait time. Only saw this when I arrived at the store as I don’t check my texts while driving. Second, the attendant told me an item had been substituted and I did not approve any substitutions nor was I given the opportunity. I let this one go as it was only one item and not a big deal. Third, I asked for a receipt as I was not given one and the attendant had to go back inside to acquire one. Fourth, I am assuming the person bringing me the receipt might have been a supervisor. This person needs to spend more time making sure that receipts are given to customers and less time on her intimidation speech prep to attempt to make it the customer’s issue. Fifth, I arrived home and began unloading my vehicle and found can goods sitting on top of produce. Sixth, one of the cans is badly dented and has been thrown...
