This has the potential to be one of the top places to eat in this area. But ethics and customer service are as important as taste and availability of seafood. I do not receive service with a smile here. In fact there have been multiple time I have walked in to multiple passive aggressive notes left directed towards customers at the register. What makes me the most irritated is this establishments lack of care for sustainable seafood choices. They disrespect the very thing that keeps them in business - the ocean. Call me a crazy eco warrior on a soap box if you want. But it will not be the truth. I love seafood. I love lobster, salmon, snapper, grouper, and all ocean food that is sustainable to eat. But being in the seafood business it’s your job to educate yourself on what isn’t. Certain reef fish are not sustainable to eat. It’s irresponsible and absolutely unnecessary when we have plenty of other options - even more lucrative better tasting options. Shark is a reef fish, and an apex predators in their eco system. Removing them can through off and collapse the whole thing, and it is. Their gestation period is over a year and they have small “litters.” Beyond that, serving shark that is less than 3 meters long is even more irresponsible than serving it in the first place because sharks aren’t able to carry a litter until they are about that size. So the shark they had on display in their case didn’t even have the chance to populate before it was removed from its environment. The FDA recomends woman have LESS THAN one serving of shark a year, and for men to have 1-3 servings depending on size and type. Also it tastes awful compared to other options...maybe that subjective...but the...
Read moreUsed to be my favorite restaurant in Maryville. After the way my family was treated today I am absolutely APALLED & disgusted at the pure lack of respect for their fellow disabled man & my children.
My review used to be 5 stars, well now not only would I give them a 0 if I could, I will NEVER support this business again in my life & will make sure all my friends & family are aware of how they treat ppl with disabilities who are physically/mentally unable to wear masks. We were treated & talked to like criminals and workers refused to serve us, well thats fine we took our business to a restaurant who respected my families disabilities.
If you have a disability hindering you from wearing a mask, you & your family are not...
Read moreSecond time I've been to shrimp dock. Quick lesson. Make sure you walk around the counter to the left as well because there's more goodies over there. I have gotten one size down from jumbo shrimp the last two times and made amazing jambalaya both times. Favorite thing that I've gotten from this shrimp dock is their crab cakes. Olive oil in a frying pan, I'd say temperature should be two down from the maximum heat.. Put about an eighth of an inch of olive oil in the bottom of the pan, a minute and a half on each side, and when I say each side I mean try to turn it four times so that you catch all four sides. They come out perfect. The staff is amazing and I am very impressed with the quality of the fish...
