I met Mary Farrell of Compass Realty in 2007 via a mutual friend (and one of Mary's clients). She helped me buy my first condo in Alexandria. Through that buying process, I was already impressed with Mary's accessibility, diligence, and her desire to provide wise counsel based on her adroit knowledge of the local market conditions. I already knew at that time that I had met someone I'd know for years to come -- but I had yet to understand the depth of her dedication to her craft.

At the end of 2007, I was ordered to deploy to Iraq as an individual augmentee. As a single service member, I had very little support to watch my affairs while I executed a 15 month deployment. My mother who was bed ridden at the time (she has since passed away) due to heart disease was the only person in my life at the time with the acumen and attention to detail to help me manage my affairs while I was deployed. Mary is married to a retired Navy Captain; she understands and appreciates the hidden unique challenges service members experience when they are asked to deploy. Upon hearing my story, Mary took it upon herself to make friends with my mother. She helped my mother manage my finances and was intimately involved in facilitating the relationship between the tenants (now staying in the condo I had bought with Mary's assistance) and I. When a pipe burst in the condo building during deployment, Mary helped my tenants get to a hotel, and was an advocate for me with the condo association and contractors who had to repair by place. My mother always commented to me how much she loved Mary. By the time I returned from Iraq, Mary was a sister to my mother, and an aunt to me.

Since that deployment I have referred Mary to one of my best friends, Navy commander and NCIS officer. He has received the same level of dedication and commitment. Mary has been there for my friend and I through every deployment. Mary helped me buy my condo in Potomac Yard in 2015, and has since helped me sell the same property.

Customer service doesn't begin to capture Mary's value. Mary is family; she will treat you as family. Mary has my highest endorsement. Terrible experience. We moved from Hawaii to VA and trusted Caitlin to help us find our home. Instead of being honest about the homes we were considering, she recommended we offer above list price.
