Nearing the end of an important video production, just starting to tighten up the edits, clean up the sound and define the colour profiles when I realised that, not only had the operating system automatically updated itself overnight along with my editing software but consequently there were now some compatibility updates available for several of my plug-ins and (foolishly, as it turned out) I decided to install the updates... Unfortunately, this didn't quite go according to plan and one of my plug-ins, which had been used extensively throughout the production, decided to disappear and the dreaded "Red Screen" appeared wherever that particular plug-in had been used. However, and this is where the Five Stars come in, when I contacted the Live Chat facility at PFS for support, I was definitely given the Five Star treatment by everyone I was in contact with (or thing, there's definitely a wee bit of AI in them there responses at the start of the process... a Chat Bot) and then the online support proved to be understanding, knowledgeable and extremely patient. Assessing the situation from screenshots of my setup and system, they made suggestions and gave me clear, concise directions of how to proceed and, after what felt like a socially-distanced sleight-of-hand and a virtual wave of the magic wand, Hey Presto... everything that had been missing reappeared in the video and an enormous smile appeared across my face. So, it's an absolutely fantastic support service. I can't recommend the products any more highly either - in normal circumstances, they work seamlessly within FCPX and this situation seems to have been caused by a mischievous software gremlin materializing in the works... or more probably, hackers from a rival production company trying to figure out what we do to get such great results. I'm happy to tell them straight out - You need to use Pixel Film Studios for all your post-editing plug-ins... They're just great! The moral of the story, by the way is "You shouldn't ever install updates in the middle of a production - You just don't know what...
Read moreAs a filmmaker who owns a production company its always important to stay ahead of the trends and I strongly believe Pixel Film Studios has products that not only elevate any project, they have very reasonable prices which is great for low budget filmmakers who may not be able to shell out a lot of money but want to still look like a lot of money was spent. This is super important and it's refreshing to know I can go to Pixel and see a bunch of really high-tech EASY TO USE products that wont make me go broke. I think their business model is, offer great products for a great price and that will build loyalty with the costumers, at least that's how feel.
I've looked at other post production plug-ins but I've yet to see the level Pixel has, and again for the price, it allows me to offer my clients top notch videos without going anywhere near over budget. One of the key elements to any professional is to be able to produce a film that looks like more money was spent. If I look at my director reels from my past compared to what I now have with Pixel plug-ins, it's night and day. And when I'm able to produce a short film, it's an awesome feeling I have low cost but high level options with Pixel to make whatever I'm working on look like I spent more money on. So if lets say I'm playing around with my camera and come up with a 2 minute short film but I want it to look good enough to put on my website (obviously the script and directing has to be good) I can add their plug-ins to give it that high-end look that makes what was a no-budget film now a "Oh he spent some money," type of film. This is really encouraging for me as a filmmaker and it should be for others as well.
I don't normally write reviews but I think when you find a company that's doing the right thing, it's important to give them a...
Read morePixel Film Studios plug-ins speed up editing immensely. if you think you can do it manually, you could be right, but it can take you 10 times longer. Pixel, film studios products are usually at least 1/3 the cost of other companies effects and PFS has a greater selection. The plug-ins they provide, could be more intuitive, but with a little noodling, you figure it out and I found it's worth the time it takes for the time it saves. Some of their tutorials are very helpful. Most of the product descriptions are often enough to figure out how to use them. I would like to see tutorials for all their products. If the results don't look the same, as on the website, you may not have the fonts needed to produce expected results, but they will give you links to download the fonts for your own. I have over 120 plug-ins from pixel film studios and have only been disappointed with the few thatI don't have work for. (I'm working on that). They have over 1800 plug-ins for all sorts of requirements. You could spend a week looking at all of them and watching their introduction/tutorials so use the handy search and price filter to quickly find what you need. Their “SALE OF THE DAY” offers are often extremely reasonable, and their process of installation has improved greatly. The majority of Vidvertise’s plug-ins are from Pixel...
