This store has really run downhill since the covid shut down. They don't have anyone in the shoes department anymore. They only have 3 cash register areas. So... you have to walk across the whole store to find one. 1 by the east door. 1 in the home/bra department and 1 in the northwest corner. (It used to be the catalog pick-up area. Maybe it still is.) I almost just left my car full of things and walked out, as I was in the middle of the store, next to the mall entrance, and had to walk to each corner to pay. Back to the shore department. The boxes are mixed up not only in the sizes but also in the shoe models. And there are boxes all over the floor. I asked my cashier by the east door if there was anyone working in the shoe department? I have been a cashier for many, many years. I have lots of patience for polite cashiers and understand customers. She, however, got really snotty and said that they do. I then said, Just as snotty, "She isn't doing a very good job, with boxes all over. I was then told She had been extremely busy that day, and she was helping other employees. "That's funny. I was in here 2 weeks ago looking for shoes for my daughter, it's the same boxes. " I wish I had taken a photo!    Read moreI wanted to buy a 'super cute' Xersion woman's top. The sign posted in Xersion area & on this wall with these shirts said 50% off Xersion Apparel for Her. See my pictures. This was an Xersion woman's shirt. Original cost $27 & should have been $12.99 as the sign said. When checking out I was told this shirt was a "New Arrival" and new arrivals were not included in the sale. No Where was it posted that there were exclusions or that "new arrivals" were not included in the sale.
I asked to speak with a manager. I spoke with a manager from HR. Sorry, I don't know her name. She confirmed that this shirt was not on sale because it was a New Arrival. I tried hard to explain that I understand exclusions, but since there was no indication to exclusions, this shirt (which by the way was just a different color than the one on sale) should be sale priced. Sadly, I did not win. And, I did not buy the shirt. Which was a bummer ~ it was super cute.
This was just one bad experience with JC Penneys. I shop alot in this Ames store & many other JC Penneys. That won't change. I like their product quality & selection. This one experience was...
   Read moreI had an order that was ready for pick up right around Christmas. With everything going on, I forgot about it. After Christmas I was sick. I tried several times to call the store to ask them to hold my order. I only got someone to answer when I picked a department. Someone answered with âplease holdâ. I had no chance to speak. After 15 minutes on hold I finally hung up. To add insult to injury, I called JC Penneyâs help line. I was told they couldnât help me because the order had been checked in at local store. With stores closing because of lack of customers you would think they would go above and beyond to assist a customer. Would not be surprised if this store is one of the first to close.
