Potter’s Shoppe & Eatery — Restaurant in Ames

Potter’s Eatery is located in a beautiful brand-new building in the historic downtown Ames area. The interior is spacious and very well decorated. The large windows allow natural light to come in which creates a pleasant vibe. The staff members were very friendly and helpful. I’d highly recommend trying the breakfast sandwich as it’s completely customizable and offers a wide variety of options including different breads, meats, cheeses, vegetables, and sauces. The quality of the food was surprisingly top notch, and turned out to be probably the best breakfast sandwich in Ames!

We stopped by Potters on Saturday morning right after the Ames farmers market. We walked in and were greeted by a wonderfully personalble employee who walked us through the menu. We ordered our food and drinks and sat down outside on their well shaded patio. The music and flowers made the spot feel super comfortable. I ordered a smoothie which had real fruit pieces in it. For food I got the breakfast sandwich with bacon that was super crispy. For a side hash browns was the obvious choice. They were well done! Crispy and flavorful with different herbs. I absolutely love Potters Eatery! It’s such a super cute spot with a cozy vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. The location is perfect, and it feels like a little treat every time I stop in.

The staff are always so friendly and welcoming—it feels like they really care about their customers. The menu is huge, with so many options, whether you’re in the mood for a full meal, something from the bakery, or just a really good coffee or tea. I’ve tried a few different things and everything has been delicious.
