GameStop — Local services in Amherst

I need to share an extraordinarily negative experience that I had with this store and one of it's employees. Fellow by the name of Kevin was my cashier, seemed like a good guy. I came in to trade in my ancient model xbox360 in the hopes of purchasing the coveted xbox one with what I could get in trade... I put forth my old games, saving a few for the backwards compatibility updates. When we got to my console, he told me he could get me more money for the components alone and that he could dispose of the core system himself... what a nice guy right? It wasn't until later on the next few days I began getting charges to my xboxlive account. whoever was using my account was purchasing old 360 games and messaging my friends telling them to extort me for $250 or the purchases would continue. I did my research and the same xbox 360 console that my "friend" Kevin had been so eager to "dispose of" had been reactivated at an IP address in the greater manchester area... I have since filed a police report with the Amherst PD. I gave them all of the information I had, including IP addresses, evidence of stolen funds and a listing of the digital items stolen, including the name of one very curious Gamestop employee named Kevin, who when I now look back and reflect on our dealings, was acting in a rather shady way... I have purchased 1 console from this location including numerous games, I have also used Gamestop exclusively as a company in the past; purchasing two consoles and games in the past few months. Regardless of whether my suspicions are correct or not, my trust in this Gamestop and others has truly been shaken, and I will not be doing business with them again......

My 2 boys went to purchase a Xbox gaming console, these consoles are quite expensive, but they saw a deal online that stated with a purchase you get 2 yrs worh of gamepass (unfortunatley for them, the fine print said only if you finance the purchase). So, they go in to make the purchase and the store employee said; our website is not up to date, but there should be a paper in the box that has the 2 year gamepass code. So my boys bought the console, took it to the vehicle, opened the box and no paper. So the boys went to return the console, because they didn't get what they were led to believe they were getting, to which the employee stated, I can give you a 3rd of what you paid back as the box is open, this is now trade in. The employee was very rude and disrespectful to a couple of young teenagers where one of the boys said this is false advertising to where another employee responded, yes we get that a lot. Know what you are selling, if you have specific policies in place, state them upfront, be honest (as my boys thought they were getting something and the employee was well aware of that as he is finalizing the sale and this employee had an opportunity to warn them or to be honest with them), but most importantly, be respectful to your customers. Pleas don't demean and make kids feel awful, have some dignity and show some decorum. This 1 star review is representitive to the one experience we had at Gamestop Amherst with the one particular employee. Take it for what it is worth, a single...

What a bad experience. No reason for the ga to be rude but he was. Wanted to swap some “blank” cases from an online order for the real ones. Was told no because a) they were for customers and b) it was a bit over the return policy… first shame on that person for the “they're for customers”comment, i am a customer, im standing there with the game from them… second im not returning them, i was just trying to get the real case that should have been included anyway. Also it should be noted that i called customer service and the store beforehand to see if this was okay and something that could be done. Care said absolutely and apologized for not shipping with cases. The store rep (not the one i dealt with this day) said sure cmon in and he would help. I know original cases may be splitting hairs for some and i got the games; but it goes both ways. Buying these games through other vendors would have been almost the same price maybe slightly more but they would have been complete. What a terrible taste to represent the already flailing entity of gamestop. Look, i know the pay is trash, and i know upper management can be a burden, and i know a mundane existence in the gamestop worklife can be pitiful, but honestly there was no reason to be a jerk, ESPECIALLY when i did the diligence to make sure this would be okay and ya just couldnt help yourself.
