Etagere — Restaurant in Amherst

Very disappointed. We arrived at 12pm and didn't receive food until 1pm. They told everyone they were running behind which didn't make sense to me because the food seemed mostly pre-made. See my brown salad and the sandwiches had frozen chicken nuggets in them.

They run these teas more like an event (everyone eats at the same time) instead of a restaurant. But I don't know why we sat for an hour with only water. Why not walk around and take tea orders so people can sip while they wait. The wait staff is very inefficient making many trips when they could make one to serve everyone better.

The "chef" came by our table but couldn't tell us what kind of cheese it was or what type of berries were in it. What if someone has an allergy? I had two kids with me my daughter loves having tea parties. It was supposed to be a fun thing to do for her but they couldn't serve her lemonade instead of tea only a lemonade thimble.

We ordered mac and cheese for the kids. We ask multiple times if we could have theirs right away and got "everything comes out at the same time". If we ordered something different why couldn't you just give them their mac and cheese to entertain them and then bring everything out at the same time for the adults. After asking a couple times can we have theirs early (they are hungry and getting cranky) someone gave me a very annoyed "your food is coming alright". Oh I'm sorry it's an hour late for lunch and I don't want my kids to smash your glass dishes when they throw a hangry fit. My kids wouldn't even eat the mac and cheese it was very watery.

Save your money order some catering or something and have a tea...

My friend and I went in for the foot soak, shiatsu foot massage, and collagen eye treatment. The place is pretty, I will give it that but what we got was nothing like we expected. The foot soak was just that, a soak; the chairs were beautiful but not made not relax just like the foot tub. It is made for beauty put diagonally with the hard corners, but they dig into your calves. We spent the time waiting for someone to massage our feet, and eventually she came over to dry and wrap our feet; we had seen her take our foot massage machines but we thought there was no way those were for us, we were wrong. So we walked with our feet wrapped in towels down the stairs to put on the reused socks and got our "foot massage" while she get a pedicure to the next client. The eye treatment is a packaged in bulk eye pad that we needed fo remind them about at checkout. Entirely disappointed in this service. At checkout she was sure to remind us of the total of the services so we knew how to much to tip her for drying off our feet. Would...

Where to even begin! A friend of mine put together a girls afternoon at Etagere and everything was above and beyond. Here's why.. I had to bring my son (17 months) and I thought I'd have to forgo my mani pedi but they encouraged me to still get my services and reassured me it was completely okay that he was there. I feel like a lot of places could have easily been irritated but they all loved that he was there and even let him "help". Our group was provided beautiful charcuterie boards and WOW! By far the BEST charcuterie board I'd ever had. I had one of their herbal teas and it was so good I got one to go too. Now for the mani and pedi. I had the 'high pedicure' and 'low manicure' with a gel polish. Both were exceptional and very reasonably priced.
