Have been going to Dr. Kim's now almost since he took over Anchor Animal Hospital; almost 10 years now. At first I thought "this is the vet for me and my cat babies." Four cats have passed since going to his office and I am highly disappointed with the care he gave them.
Dr. Kim over works himself unable to give quality care, to at least from what I know, mine and my families cats since his establishment has become crowded. He lacks personal care for his patients; example: although my princess had been seeing Dr Kim for years even on her last visit before passing he didn't know her name. I continued taking in her biological brother after and he still couldn't remember her name. As for my boy, mind you I had been seeing Dr. Kim for years. One time my boy had an abscess that grew. I had only enough for the office visit at this particular time. Dr Kim knew me as a returning client yet wouldn't give my boy a single shot he needed. I went home trying to treat my boys abscess but it got bigger and ate through part of his skull. Finally, I was able to take my boy back to Anchor. It was then I realized all my boy needed was a 50 dollar shot that would cause the abscess to go away. My boy spent weeks in pain and I constantly tried caring for his abscess only to be turned away for a 50 dollar shot I could have handed Dr Kim later since I was a loyal client.
Years ago when Dr Kim was an attentive doctor I had referred my sisters to him for their cats needs. The end result is he seemed indifferent to their cats as well. Example: Recently, although both my sisters have been loyal to Anchor one of my sisters too ran into a financial issue. Her cat, biological sibling to mine, seemed to be dying. Hoping Dr. Kim would see her on an emergency bases as her vet because my sister didn't have the 250 to be seen my sister and her cat were turned away. Two hours later my sisters cat passed away.
We have been loyal clients of Dr Kim's yet he has not been loyal to us allowing our companion animals to sustain further agony all because twice we couldn't pay right then. And let's not forget he couldn't remember our loved ones names. I knew I should have walked away years ago from this vet.
Even though Dr Kim may Charge slightly less than other vets it's not risking your pets life for. In the end Dr. Kim only seems there for the money. Not the overall well-being of your companion animal.
Me and my human loved ones will now take our remaining loved four legged family members elsewhere. We are completely done with Dr. Kim!!
And as for people's comments about the office being disorganized, lacking in returned calls even in a life or death situatiin with a high turnover, they're right. Dr. Kim may have a nice side but he also has a not so kind...
Read moreHorrible experience. First off, I want to give some background information. I got my dog spayed on Jan 30th of this year. Originally we were going to pay $220. I was supposed to pick her up that same day at 5pm; however, I get a call from one of the nurses on the front desk. She tells me that my dog won't be ready until 11pm. (I had to work at 8:30pm) So I told them to give me a second to find someone to pick up the dog. When I call back they tell me that they made a mistake, there was another dog named, "Bella" and she is the one who is ready till 11pm, I am still set for 5pm right? So at 5pm I go and they tell me that they told me she would be ready at 11pm. So I say, "Hey I have to go to work and I'm not out until 12:30am. I can't pick her up at 11pm unless you can wait for me till 12;30am." The doctor comes out and says, "IT'S FINE BUT I MIGHT HAVE TO CHARGE MORE." At that point I just wanted my dog and had to go get ready for work. Fast forward to 12:30am the doctor calls me as I clock out and says, "Hey I wanted to talk to you about bella, so she's actually bleeding a lot internally. I have to keep her till 2;30AM." At this point I am confused, irritated, but the most important thing is that my dog gets home safe. I can lose a few hours of sleep. 2:30am comes and homeboy calls me to let me know Bella is ready. UPCHARGE!!!! from $220 originally to $284. Absolutely ridiculous! Then he tells me to bring her back the next day for a second check up on the bleeding. Luckily no charge for this visit. Never did he tell me to bring my dog back to have her staples removed. However, I will take ownership for that since I never bothered calling and asking, but last night when I got home Bella left a literal pool of blood on the floor so I took her to the vet this morning. Homeboy says its probably the same thing she got surgery for but shows me a quote for $409, but "It;s not that dangerous" according to him, so I refuse to pay $400. Hold on though, on my way out I have to pay $27 for a doctor's visit???? To fix a mistake that was caused by the doctor I had to pay twice the amount I was supposed to pay. No dog owner should have to go through this. The man is a total clown. Don't get me wrong, the nurses are awesome, they make you and your dog feel supported, but the doctor is a GREEDY and LYING individual. If you want to save some money, I would reccomend Golden State Humane Society. Longer wait, but they are so much more helpful, and a lot less deceptive. Thanks to the nurses for being so helpful though, like I said you ladies are...
Read moreOn July 27 I had a TNR kitty neutered, as our usual low cost spay/neuter vet, Pro Pet Fix, went out of business during the peak of the pandemic. Before I scheduled the appointment I asked if this particular office fixes feral cats and they said yes. I was told he would be done by seven or eight but by 9 o’clock nobody called me and they would not answer the phone so I drove down there. The front desk told me that there were nine surgeries booked that day, and it was supposed to be only four or five. A vet tech told me that my cat had escaped at one point, and that he was too feisty. I said yes – his feral! The vet tech was unable to put a cone on (they insisted I buy the cone despite him being a feral cat) or administer deworming meds I paid for, and asked me to do it. The tech and the front desk girl said maybe I’d be able to do it since he knows me and that they were too scared. I said I didn’t want to, because it’s not like I handle him – he’s feral. The vet tech said the front desk girl would help me, that she needed to get back to surgery. Front desk girl came in and I attempted to reach his nape and he made two puncture in my hand and scratched my wrist. Inside the puncture, I could see the inner workings of my hand as there was no blood at first. Front desk girl pressed gauze with alcohol and my hand and asked if it hurt. Ya think? I asked for a trash can so I could throw up. I was then told I could put the meds in his food. Are you kidding me? I grabbed everything and left, sobbing. I also assume the cone could be placed on him while he was asleep? But how could I possibly have taken the cone off?? Despite washing the wound, I went to urgent care on the 28th and 29th for a worsening infection. I have fixed many feral TNR cats prior to this and have had zero issues. No one has ever asked me to administer meds or insist on me purchasing a cone. This filthy vet was recommended by a neighbor due to its low cost. I was never told that the surgery/recovery I would go well into the night or that the vet tech was unable to treat a feral cat. Also, may be worth noting that my cats ear tip was cut too far – super unnecessary. I will never take another TNR cat here again – let alone an actual pet. Never met the doctor. Front desk girl was young and nice, but did not give accurate information, seemed forgetful and extremely experienced. Vet tech should NEVER handle a feral cat again nor should this office advertise that they are capable of...
