Had the worst customer service experience in the most unexpected way. Yesterday, my friend and I came in regarding the Mystery Sale we saw promotions for. We got to the register and asked about it, the associate who took care of us, Val, just starred at us blankly. We asked how to go about that, and she got very frustrated and said it didn’t work like that. My friend and I were really confused and said she didn’t have to her the shirt then, and the associate snapped at her and shoved a couple cards at her and said to pick one. I guess these were what the mystery discounts were? What was confusing us so much was just how aggressive she was off the bat.
The rest of the interaction was really awkward, and after she paid, I stepped up to be next and without looking at me she said to go to another cashier for help, then started helping the person behind me. I was so shocked and utterly confused during this whole experience. When I went to the next cashier, I was really hesitant at this point but I asked about the Mystery Sale, and she said they weren’t running it. I said how my friend literally just got it at the other register, and the associate must’ve been new because she didn’t know anything about it. We felt really bad at this point because another associate came over to help her finish cashing us out.
We left feeling so dumbfounded by the whole experience. We talked about it over and over in the car, “Did we do anything to upset her?” “Did I say something wrong?” Everything we thought of just didn’t make sense. Working in retail, I understand how stressful it can be during a rush, but it wasn’t that particularly busy at all. No matter what, I’ve learned even on my worst days to never treat anyone like that, especially over a customer trying to use a discount you’re promoting?
Definitely such a bizarre experience, one thing we decided for sure was that Val’s attitude was something I would never want to come back to...
Read moreThis store is run very poorly. I went here to see what clothes they had and found some nice baggy levis. Their dressing room floors had shirt pins all over and several of the changing stall doors were broken. When I finally went to the counter to pay for them, I was bombarded by questions, all about their card. I said no a total of 4 times before the questions stopped. This is an all time low for the company; desperately trying to force you to get their horrible card so you will hopeful shop with them more frequently. I refuse to ever return to a jcpenny and I refuse to allow my family to ever support a company that doesn't keep a safe environment and that harass their customers at the checkout lanes. Do better. Also, to everyone reading reviews here, be wary. A lot of the 5 star reviews have poor grammar and lots of typos, which means its either employees leaving reviews or its review bombing....
Read moreThe checkout process was not a good experience.
There were long lines at 2 open counters. There was a third staff person in the jewelry section to check out. I decided to wait there. Staff person and manager start explaining that they can't take me because IF there is a jewelry client, they have to help them (meanwhile the staff is working on boxing shoes). Also, Manger said that she cant check me out because she is ' managing the store'.
You are not managing the store effectively if there are only 2 chashiers, a third - limited to what she can check out, and you standing around 'managing'. A manager should step in to help staff when they are drowning and realign others (those who were walking around the store folding clothes etc.).
Overall, will not be...
