I went by the Anniston Soup Bowl in Anniston Alabama yesterday when going to an ear Doctor appointment later! I got there just before 12:30 and they gave me a to go plate of food! I can remember when the Soup Bowl stayed open for meals up to 1 pm! They would put the American Flag out by 11:30 am when they started serving the homeless and etc! By 1 pm the flag was coming down when they had quit! Many homeless people and etc have to walk or drive and or catch a ride to make it here to get one meal a day free! I asked if they had any free loafs of bread! They said that they had not received any yet! Sometimes that extra loaf of bread can make a difference in going hungry through the rest of the day and night especially when you are homeless! It sure would be nice to have the Soup Bowl in Anniston Alabama to be open more and to have a way to get in out of the elements! Too cold weather and too hot in the summer! It's a shame that it took so long to get the money to build this big beautiful building for it to only be used for about two hours a day for 5 days a week! Plenty of volunteers that want to help with serving a breakfast also! Mentoring help and assistance could be provided to these homeless people! Another day room to help the different homeless people and transient people coming through Anniston Alabama! Especially since the main homeless shelter the Salvation Army closed down at least 4 years ago! Thus the homeless people have been out on the streets in Anniston Alabama unless the Warming Station opens on nights when it's going down to 32 degrees and below! Thus the homeless people still have to find somewhere else to go to during the day time hours! Could anyone please help to have more things and Services and places to live with getting the homeless people back on their feet and to deal with their issues! Anyone Can Be One Paycheck Away From Becoming Homeless!...
