A very nice little shop with tons of fabrics in all sorts of colors that are roughly organized by color. They also have leather pieces in a bin. They have handmade soaps near the door, too. It was very clean even while they were in the middle of some construction or remodeling, not sure which. Smelled good, too, but it may have been the soaps, lol.

My only complaint is that we had to wait a while to get checked out, and then the card reader at the counter didn't work 3/4 times. The owner made a comment about young people never using cash anymore, but it's 2023, any shop should have a reliable card reader unless cash only is a feature of their store. Anyway, it was easily remedied for us by walking a little ways down to the other half of the shop by instruction of the owner, where his son, who was very pleasant, finished the transaction in the garden center.

Overall, a good experience, but they should really get a decent card reader. The owner and his son seemed kind and were mostly helpful, and it's always nice to support...

For the last few months I’ve been in the market for upholstery to recover a glider for my baby’s nursery. I live in Birmingham and have been all over town and ordered dozens of swatches online. A friend recently told me about Downing and Son’s in Anniston and recommended I make the trip. It was a quick one hour drive from Birmingham and I am so thankful I did. The owners, a father and son duo, could not have been more enjoyable or helpful to work with. They carried the bolts around the store for me to compare and cut as many samples as I needed. They made my friend and I feel right at home while we were there for over two hours shopping. I got 17 yards of fabric for $100 less than I found for 9 yards online of a similar fabric. I will continue making the drive to shop with them for all upholstery projects moving forward. Cannot recommend shopping at...

Hi. I have been a long time local customer to The store. I was saddened to witness the rude and dismissing behavior of two customers who where obtaining plants for a community garden. The behavior of the employee has made me question my continued loyalty to the local business. I plan on sharing my story with my neighbors so they can decide if they want to move their business to other local stores. I plan on placing this on Yelp since I believe they delete...
