I am very disappointed in Smokeshow studios. I was unhappy with my initial makeup trial and was told to reschedule. I gave the artist the benefit of the doubt and went again. Still, unhappy with the finished product. I asked if we could tweak a couple smaller things quick before leaving, for example, lip color. I was told “we’re done for today” and to schedule a third trial. At $100 per trial, I was not willing to do that and went with another company for makeup.

The owner, Sara Crawford, was also very unprofessional and made mistakes that were quite concerning, including mistakingly removing one of the two hair artists we had scheduled for the morning of the wedding. We luckily found out about this the week before the wedding when our wedding coordinator reached out to confirm scheduling, and Sara told us that we had cancelled one artist earlier that week. We had not had any contact with them about this change, so this would have been a major issue the day of. The owner also was not willing to provide even a very rough schedule/outline for the morning (such as confirming arrival time or an estimated time to spend per bridesmaid), saying it’s not worth it because things may change. This was very surprising as we had not gotten this response from any other vendor, and after the wedding day it became even more obvious that having a plan for the morning of the wedding was absolutely necessary to make sure everyone was able to get ready on time. When we informed Sara that we would no longer be moving forward with Smokeshow Studios, she continued to ask why, and when we told her the above concerns she would make arguments/excuses via email before ghosting us.

The details: What a wonderful experience! I was so happy to come across Smokeshow Studios and Sarah for bridal makeup. I had engagement photos scheduled, and after seeing so many Instagram posts recommending a makeup trial run, I thought it was a great idea—even though I hadn’t planned ahead. Sarah responded quickly and was able to fit me in that same day.

I asked for a more natural look (vs. full glam) with a focus on highlighting my eyes. At 40, I sometimes worry makeup will settle into lines and make me look older, but Sarah did a fantastic job—it looked flawless, felt great, and was flattering. She was also so easy to talk to, which made the experience even better.
