Discriminating prices: / Deceptive Business Practices:
JCPenney has always had affordable decent items for past couple decades but their recent system of business me turned me off: you can find the same item online on their website and order for pick up, and that SAME item will be $5-10 more expensive if you had gone in the store and just paid at the register. So after bringing my kid to the store to see what they actually had in-person, I had to tell my kid to wait for the toy because I actually need to order it online and we can’t just pay for it right then and there. So we had to come back and pick it up at a later time. According to their website, they claim they have a price- match guarantee, but they actually have no such thing. I talked to corporate why they say that but it’s not actually true in my experience and he said he just doesn’t know why it says that. I don’t understand why they punish in-store shoppers?? This happened to me two different times on two separate occasions so it’s not just a certain employee, this is corporate. it’s just a lot of extra steps, quite unfair. Takes away the joy out of in-store shopping 100% for me. Also, it seems to me they are taking advantage of customers who aren’t familiar with their online website (like a lot of elderly people). I don’t know any other store that has such a discriminating difference in prices like this one. I am canceling my card here and will rather buy everything at Macys and Nordstrom and Target. Update: Response to your response: I spoke to JCPenney headquarters and they confirmed their prices don’t match. The man said he’s not sure why their website says they do match guarantee (since they don’t). I called them yesterday around after 2 pm, and they recorded the conversation. Look it up. Not only polite, she is helpful, hard working, dedicated and A TRUE ASSET TO JC PENNEY!! Read moreWent shopping today, 3/30/16, with my grandson and daughter for his graduation outfits. We were in the men's dress section and no one was available to help. However, there was a gentlemen we had seen before lunch at Macy/s. He was employed by one of the accessory suppliers in men's wear. He was so positive, helpful and professional at Macy's that I felt confident in asking for his assistance in choosing pants; as he had measured Ryan at Macy's for shirts we had no problem, but we did need help with pants. Once again, he came to our rescue. He remembered us from earlier in the day and suggested where we start, what to look for and brought us up to date on young men's current dress fashion. We ended up getting 2 pair of dress pants, 3 dress shirts, suspenders, belt and a pair of dress shoes. Without this gentlemen's help we probably would not have been as successful in our shopping adventure. I must compliment J C Penney and this gentlemen for a great experience. The gentlemen did not take more than a couple of minutes to make his recommendations. At the end I asked him to see the fit of the pants we decided on and he agreed it was the best fit. This gentlemen was a real professional. I would like to thank him but I did not get his name. I have also sent a similar review to Macy's with the request that I will make to J.C. Penney: If you track this older gentlemen we would like to thank him; he made us feel valued and made sure we were happy.
