First things first, if "boxing" scares you, then take the name out of this fantastic workout and ecosystem of great people. I was at first a little scared to walk into a boxing gym, I had never boxed and was very much out of shape. I can convincingly say that URBAN boxing is absolutely the best way to get in shape, get stronger, make friends and more importantly be surrounded by GREAT staff and coaches. Every single time I walk in the staff is welcoming and there is no pressure to workout as hard as others. You can workout at your own pace. I cannot stress enough the importance of the staff and the coaches. From the from the front desk staff Jordan and Louie to the coaches Antoine and Lois, from top to bottom URBAN boxing is above and beyond other "basic" gyms or workouts. Antoine brings a professional mindset with a calm demeanor to teach you as basic or as advanced as you want to go during the class. He manages the class so well for experienced or beginners. The classes are a full body workout with a cardiovascular exercise that builds you stronger. Jordan and Louis (at the front desk) make you feel like home. They are personable, friendly, nice and just go above and beyond. For example, during a usual workout, I had forgotten my towel to wipe the excess sweat off my face, without fail, here was Louis walking around ensuring that we had towels. Jordan has all of the qualities that makes you want to come back to the gym. Not only is he pleasant, friendly and approachable he is also one heck of a boxer. He is attentive to your needs and even after 5 months of boxing he helped me wrap my hands a different way last week after I asked him if his wrists were ever sore. He has since wrapped my hands multiple times and taught me his special way...since then no more soreness. Thank you Jordan!!!
All that to say thank you to URBAN boxing. In five months I have dropped weight, gotten much stronger, made new friends and become...
Read moreI've been to all 3 Urban Boxing gyms in the DC area and all the trainers, coaches, management and ownership are some of the best I have ever seen. Never have any account issues, you can freeze or start back up at anytime. Veteran friendly. Trainers are top notch. Some trainers are current/past champions and some trainers are Pro Fight Trainers. Sometimes, Urban Boxing organizes a party bus that will transport you to go support one of Urban Boxing's Champions fight. It's one big family.
They are willing to prepare you for whatever you're goals are from fitness to amateur and pro. If you're willing to put your skills to the test, you can participate in sparring. They are willing to push you to your limits, if you are willing to put in the work. I lost 25 Lbs within first 90 days of joining the gym. Other forms of martial arts are usually available such as Kickboxing and Jujitsu. Kids classes are also available. Best gym I have been to hands down! Thanks team...
Read moreAll around fantastic studio, wish I could give them 10 stars. The environment is super welcoming, not intimidating, and like everyone says, it's a second home. Truly going to be some of the people I miss most when I move!
Dan, Josh, and the rest of the front staff are always totally lovely and accommodating and make every single person who comes in feel welcome and pumped up. We live for the fist bumps.
The coaches are all phenomenal; they're always around to help correct technique or encourage you to work just a little bit harder, but they're also just all-around lovely humans who truly care about their students. I've had a serious ankle injury and Mike and Antoine have been angels helping me modify workouts so I can still come to classes safely while still pushing me to be better and not get lazy.
The facilities are spotless and the staff is great about disinfecting after each class and making sure everything is covid safe.
