The Coffee is Legit & The Name....Say's it All!

I stumbled on this to this place while taking a break from work and a walk outside to get some fresh air. It is relatively new and located across the street from the Starbucks here in Virginia Square.

I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered an amazing iced latte called the ‘Three Waves’ that have flavors of macadamia nut and hints of coconut & caramel that had my taste buds flying all over the place! I customized it by adding dark chocolate which paired well and heighten my drink. The coffee itself was bold, strong, just like I like it and not too sweet. The price point was great too. It was the perfect fix and afternoon boost.

The shop is small but has lots of souvenirs and select Hawaiian coffee beans to choose from and take home. The menu is full of coffee, items, smoothies, and variations of coffee drinks that can be prepared cold, frozen or hot.. I left this place buzz and completely satisfied....with a great energy kick to make it through the rest of the day.

I'm so glad this place has opened up here and so close to work. The customer service is excellent and the /barista was very helpful. With such a large menu and many choices, flavors, and combinations to choose..... They were great and helping me navigate the menu and offered up. Excellent suggestions. This place is a huge improvement from the once Dunkin' Donuts store that was located here.

Will definitely keep this place on repeat and have to come back to try some of the many other great looking menu items!

I live one block away from this coffee shop and am happy to have it in the neighborhood. I’ve visited three times, the coffee is nice, but expensive. I do have a few things I’d love to see them improve:

1. The location does not appear to be handicap accessible. I may be wrong, but I don’t know how someone who can’t climb steps be able to access the store? Is this a code/law violation?
2. They have an app which is nice because you can order ahead. It may not be fair to compare the app “experience” to Starbucks, but I’m going to anyway especially since Starbucks is nearby and at the same price point. The app doesn’t appear to allow you to choose different types of milk which is strange to me. I always use a milk alternative which means I’m limited on what I can order in the app. They have a nice choice of flavor/syrup options, but I don’t see a sugar-free option. They may them in the store but don’t see them in the app. The app should allow you to use Apple/Google pay but doesn’t. You have to enter your credit card.

There are a lot of positives: The location is well decorated, clean, and has a great vibe. It’s small but doesn’t feel cramped. So far, the service has been excellent. The staff have been very friendly and attentive. The coffee is delicious. I’ve tried two of the blended drinks and have been underwhelmed with the flavors. I haven’t tried the food, yet, but it looks nice.

Overall, I’m happy with the experience, and I expect them to do well.

March 15, 2025 update - most of the things I felt could be improved upon have been changed, mostly improvements to the app. I’m now a regular so am changing my rating from 3...

I was pleasantly surprised and impressed on opening day. The market in this area is very over saturated when it comes to coffee shops, so I wasn’t expecting much. I am not familiar with Bad Ass Coffee brand, so I asked the barista for recommendations. He was super helpful and I ended up getting the three waves latte. I was afraid it may be too sweet, but the coconut and the nutty flavors were super balanced and not too sweet. They also use coffee ice cubes to avoid the drink watering down. Overall the service and the product are a great addition to the community and I will frequently be...
