This antique mall is a lot of fun to browse. It's fairly large, taking about 2-3 hours to walk through and visit each booth. My favorite area was in the back where there was a ton of colorful vintage clothing. The staff member we saw was also friendly and welcoming.
What's preventing 5 stars? Their heating system is weird, and it was incredibly cold inside; it was under 40° the day I visited and a similar temp inside. My fingers went numb a few times, and even the cashier was wrapped up. Occasionally, you'd find a warm spot and wouldn't want to move. If visiting in the winter, dress accordingly. I hope the AC is better in the summer!
The second reason for 4 stars is the prices. I found a few items I would have purchased, but the vendors here have definitely priced items on the higher end of their potential worth, and I didn't feel like I was getting a good deal. I don't mind paying for a quality item, but I felt like there was some price gouging, or at least a lack of competitive pricing. For example, I found a fireplace screen similar to a style I've been wanting. I had seen some nice ones online for $130, polished and in good order. The vendor had theirs priced a little higher, and the screen was in rough shape, requiring a low of elbow grease to get it ship shape, so I walked away. I did expect this to be the case in Ashville, but it was a bit disappointing regardless as it takes some of the fun out of the treasure hunt.
Overall, I would...
Read morei just wanted to say they do not care about a person stranded in the pouring monsone rains who haf broken down . they actually had a very rude woman in the store who even went so far as to say she was with someone she didn't even know. she asked to sweep a floor because someone elderly had told her they could get her to weaverville if she had gas money. she had left herbankcard in her pants pocket at home where she was shopping the day before. this is so upsetting that if you dont have human kindness how could you possible be kind when a customer is in need of a problem to be solved you guys think about this because i wont spend another dime there and what they dont know is my brother who was in Illinois at the time has spent lots of money there at auctions so they lost that as well. thank you for allowing my voice to be heard and if you notice there are many...
Read moreMade an offer on an item in one of the booths at the shop. The lady who was working that day took our offer and stated that she reached out to the booth owner, but by the time we were ready to leave, she stated she had not heard back. So, my wife and I passed on the item and left the shop. No sooner had we returned to our car than the lady in the shop called us and stated she just heard back from the owner of the item and that the price was firm. My wife and I decided to go back in and purchase the item.
The next day I received a call from ANOTHER lady at the shop. She stated she had just heard from the owner of the booth and yes, she would accept our offer. As it turns out, the booth owner had NEVER spoken to the shop the previous day and indeed, the lady working in the shop that day was lying. Not a great way to conduct...
