Too long to read: Not a bad experience, faced professionals and got beat for all the rounds. Should have done a private match between friends since strangers don't follow game rules.
The place was not hard to find, but a long way from boston. We got there 30 minutes late. But we went in and checked anyway.
After getting our gear and learning the rules, we went to the battlefield ( not literal battlefield ).
We got Into teams and was set on the field to start the match. As soon the battle started, I ran for cover behind a piece of wood wall. But after trying to poke my head out to see who is there, I was shot right in the knee by a paintball which was moderately painful.
As soon as I was shot, I strapped my paintball gun to safety mode, then stapled a cover on the muzzle and walked off the field with my hand held high.
We ended up losing all of our rounds, but what especially bothered me was the last round. Where in the last round it was a respawn kind of game. Yet even when some of us surrendered or got point blank surrender rule , we were still getting shot by the opposing team.
Overall not a bad place to have fun, better to find a...

However safety off the field wasn't a seeming priority. On multiple occasions I observed people walking into areas without barrel covers on. The refs were not on top of this. More signage reminding people about masks and barrel covers should be added at transition points. Additionally, the test fire area didn't have any sort of warning sign reminding people to put barrel covers back on.
On top of this, I observed multiple people taking masks off inside the play field without the refs noticing or calling it out.
At other fields, the safety around barrel covers and masks were articulated with significantly higher importance. This included being clear why this safety equipment was so important. The safety video they do have at the beginning doesn't seem to do this justice. Especially given how frequently I saw these safety precautions being mistakenly forgotten.
It was unfortunate to hear the refs report that at another Boston Paintball location, someone had recently lost an eye. This may be something that needs to be prioritized more adequately across all Boston...
Read moreGot a group of friends together for a quick rental day, decided to give Boston Paintball a try. First match we were paired with a kid with custom gear, FPS cranked high to increase his range. He constantly disobeyed the rules the facility claimed they enforced. "No shooting within 10-15 feet" "Don't shoot someone if they're out and leaving the field" Etc. When anyone in my group tried to talk to an employee they brushed us off as if we had never played paintball before, claiming that getting teacup sized welts through 3 layers of clothing from across the entire field was normal. It's not and was caused by one player the owner admitted to having reprimanded multiple times. That and they actively encourage players to aim for the mask, which they supply cheap plastic ones that i have no doubt will fracture on some poor soul some day soon. Their fields were beautiful and well crafted, but they're wasted on employees who don't observe their own rules and barely pay attention to the matches. Out of the fields in MA, this one was the worst experience I've ever had and neither I nor my group will...
