I stopped by their store twice with a list of features I was looking for in a dishwasher and I found their lack of options disappointing. They didn't have anything that even came close to having everything that I wanted, so I ended up buying my dishwasher elsewhere. But to try and support small local businesses I called them to set up installation, since they told me they use an independent person for their installs, and they refused to help me, were even down right rude about it. They even refused to give me the name of the person they use for their installs. I understand if they work for you, but they said it was an independent contractor that they recommend for installation, so why would you refuse to give them business even if you weren't able to help me with what I needed? To me that doesn't make sense. I tried to shop there, coming in twice and having a list of features I wanted, so they could even special order a dishwasher for me, but they weren't able to help me, that isn't my fault that's theirs. Then their rudeness after finding out I didn't purchase my dishwasher from them and lack of helpfulness when I was still trying to give them business has made me realize that they just don't want my business, so I will bring it else where. Sorry Gmack, I have 3 other major appliances that will need to be upgraded and I won't be buying them from you. If that is how you are going to treat customers that your weren't able to help and they have to option but to purchase somewhere else, you end up losing out on any future purchases with them. And to the contractor that does their installs, you may want to find out how much business they have refused to pass...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped in to use GMAC as we have used them in the past and had real good service. Yesterday my wife and I stopped in and were met by what I believe to be the owner. Let’s just say not a good experience at all. I started out trying to explain what the size of the unit was that I need and be very abruptly stop me and made me wait for him to correct what I was saying before he allowed me to tell him the exact measurements. He explained these measurements need to be a certain way. He then proceeds to go and punch in all my information to find a unit that will work for me. He comes back and hands me a copy of his findings and I explain to him one of his measurements are 3/8”wider than we can have. He looks at me and says “yup, your going to have to do some cutting”. I explained I would rather not do any cutting and I would rather have the unit that fits the spot. He then walked away from me wrinkled up the paper and said “well your going to have to do some cutting” as he walked away from me apparently done assisting me. I then walked away saying we will never do business here or with GMAC ever again. We went to Best Buy. Excellent service and got exactly what we wanted and for less money. We also got a 300 dollar gift card for buying matching appliances. Posted this...
Read moreI love this place. Totally old school. No website, no social media, so I did find out the hard way their hours are in fact 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday. If you want to support a small business, here's your chance. They carry limited brands, so if you have one in mind you might consider calling ahead to inquire. Otherwise stop in—the place just feels great, like you've stepped back in time (other than the modern appliances). Mike is awesome; he seriously felt like an old friend by the end of my transaction. Very friendly and knowledgeable. I needed a new clothes dryer and had no preference which brand, and that felt like the perfect way to go into it (earlier in the year I needed a new dishwasher, but found out Gmack didn't have the brand I wanted). Seriously, for those who tout the support of small businesses, doesn't get much better than this. Two-thirds of every dollar spent with a local small business stays in the...
