I ordered two drinks and a few banh mi to go. The crispy pork belly and the special. They got my order out fairly quick. Service was good. The atmosphere was cozy and open.
The drinks were good, they offer a variety of flavors, styles and toppings (pearls, jelly, etc.)
As for the banh mi, the portions were just right. They weren't trying to over stuff any ingredient disproportionately to compensate anything. The pickled daikon and carrots, cilantro and jalapenos were good.
However, where it fell short was the bread. The life of an authentic banh mi is the bread and I feel like it was a store-bought bread from Walmart or a local bakery. I could be wrong. I know actual French bread traditionally used for banh mi is difficult to find and make but that was my kicker. Otherwise everything else was great.
The pork belly itself was tasty with that crispy chilli on top. But it was annoying to have to keep taking the pieces of pork out and biting it again. They are larger pork belly pieces (yum) but when you bite into it you have to pull the piece out and eat it separately. In a sandwich you would expect to just chomp away. Keeping the portion sizes, but cutting them into a few pieces would be my suggestion for a better eating experience.
Otherwise, 4 out of 5. I would...
Read moreI visited this place today based on positive reviews, but the experience was EXTREMELY HORRIBLE. Firstly, the person preparing my tea failed to properly secure the lid, resulting in leakage all over the cup. Rather than addressing the issue, he simply placed another cap on top of the broken one. I had to request tissues to clean it myself.
Moreover, the drink was of the latte variety, requiring shaking. However, due to the improperly sealed cap, it spilled between the two lids. When I brought this to his attention, he responded with, "Do not shake it, just drink it, because I already shook it." This response left me perplexed, as it seemed unreasonable to drink a large latte without shaking it. The overall service was subpar, and the taste did not meet expectations.
I don't understand the high reviews for this place, and I will never to return. A place should be good in at least one aspect—whether it be service, taste, or atmosphere. Surprisingly, this place fell short in...
Read moreFirst time at Boba Bae, and have heard good things about it, so decided to give it a try. I ordered the chicken teriyaki banh mi sandwich and was quite disappointed. The chicken they used for my sandwich did not look like chicken in the photos on the menu or like photos from other reviews that I’ve seen. It looked and tasted like the dry prepackaged grilled chicken that you can buy in the grocery store. I understand people can make the same food many different ways, but this one, unfortunately, seemed like an easy way out of making a delicious sandwich. Other than this sandwich, the drinks and the sauce that comes with the fresh rolls were good. Would go back for the drinks,...
