Previously, my husband and I bought a 360 adjustable base and split king mattress in 2020. In 2025, We went into the store to buy a new mattress. The salesman, BRADLEY, was amazing and assured us that we can use a new mattress with our existing base "just as we do today". When our new mattress was delivered, the delivery guy informed me that the base runs on one pump, and the new mattress runs on a different pump, and I will need to use the remote to adjust the base and the app to adjust the mattress. They cant be combined and I'd need to call to see if combining them on the app is possible. This is incredibly inconvenient and not what was told to us when we bought the bed. Adjusting the base is something we do everyday when watching TV or when I nurse my baby in bed. Now my husband and I have to share the remote to adjust the base. If he has the remote and is sleeping, and I need to adjust my side, I need to get up and get the remote. Why wouldn't sleep number just make sure the pumps can work together with old pumps? Seems like a poor process "enhancement" to me and like they purposely make it difficult so consumers need to buy a new base with the bed. I called the customer service number on 7/16/25 and talked to Diana. She right away said there is no way to combine both on my app and nothing they can do. I asked for a second remote for free - due to the inaccurate information and inconvenience. She said she couldn't but would transfer me to someone "higher up". I was transferred to Reena. Reena also right away said these couldn't be combined and said the salesman shouldn't have told me that when I bought the bed. She would not provide me a free remote, no matter how much I explained the misinformation and inconvenience of this whole situation. She said to me "you have one remote that works", implying that is good enough. I explained a 2nd remote would be at least a compromise to not having access to the base in the app, because then both my husband and I have something to use for base adjustment. She didn't care. I asked her to transfer me to someone else because Im not happy with how she feels this is resolved, she would not, saying she is the supervisor and no one else will have a different answer. Seriously? She is saying she is the end all be all for answers. I asked for what other steps I can take to submit a complaint for this. She said there is NONE. I spent $4k on a new mattress (plus other items purchased at the same time), and she feels she cannot give me a free remote and won't let me escalate beyond her? I was very upset and absolutely felt like Sleep Number and Reena could care less about me as a customer. My last effort to resolve this was when I went to the local store and I talked with Bradley about what was happening. He was very apologetic and right away jumped into action to resolve appropriately. With Bradley's help, I was able to get the old pump for the base hooked up and now I can use my app for adjustment of the base AND the mattress. Reena and that team absolutely need coaching for the incorrect information. If they would have known how to solve this, all of the back and forth and getting upset would have not happened. Additionally, Reena needs to have further repercussions, she wouldn't allow me to speak to anyone or submit a complaint. It is like she didn't care about me as a customer or that I was having any issues. She just wanted me gone. Bradley should receive a huge bonus! He was a lifesaver for this issue and will be the only reason I come back to Sleep Number. Unfortunately, my star rating is not great because of Reena. Read moreWe have had our sleep number bed for about 2 years, my wife wanted one so that we could have different firmness on each side of the bed. The issues with the sleep number beds are never-ending including setup, ongoing breakage like hoses, pumps, and the air mattress that you discover you are sleeping on.
A bed is not something you want to have as a liability in your life and want to be able to depend on having a place to sleep at night. My bed has deflated in the middle of the night, put too much pressure on certain points of my body because it is an air mattress and creates acute pain.
I spoke with support about trying to resolve this in many ways and they wont sell you any kind of toppers, pads, or a different bag other than the one you bought because what they really want is your money. They will sell, sell, sell and then after you buy in, you'd think that they offer a warranty that is going to help you but really the warranty only offers a percentage of coverage and you are going to have to continue to spend money maintaining your bed.
I advise buying two beds size twin xl for each person, which equates to one king sized bed so that everyone can get the firmness that they want and you only have to buy the bed one time.
I do not want to hear any b.s. from the sleep number, or your support team on this post. This is the truth and you know it, you are basically car salesman that sell beds.
This is a pathetic company who spends a ton of money on marketing for a reason to try and convince people that this is a top of the line product when its not. Go read the reviews about these beds that are not sponsored posts, many people have had the same issues I have.

Read moreMy wife and I have been searching for the "perfect" mattress for quite some time now - especially with regard to my ongoing back issues. My chiropractor recommended Sleep Number so we decided to take a look over the 4th of July weekend at our Green Bay store. Well.... never in my life would I have guessed we would buy a mattress system before we walked out - and spend twice as much that purchase as my 1st new car (yes - I'm that old). Blair was absolutely terrific in explaining the technology and all the nuances of the Sleep Number system. Very knowledgeable and patient. Although we are not receiving our bed for a couple weeks we feel confident we have found the answer to our sleeping issues. We spent a good part of the afternoon experiencing the various mattress and number options and it is the most comfortable mattress either of us have ever tried. Also given that my wife and I have different support and firmness preferences and the sleep number can address that is wonderful. Add an adjustable base and finance option and we were good to go. The 100 day return policy is reassuring in case anything changes after we get a chance to try it over the long term. Thank You Blair - We are excitedly awaiting our delivery.
