Dr. Medina likely saved my life!

After a partial hysterectomy in May 2017, I spent the last few years miserable. I experienced mood swings, anxiety, depression & PMS symptoms that were debilitating. I had no energy and problems sleeping. Post partial hysterectomy, I was informed that my OB had removed my uterus, my cervix, my fallopian tubes & my left ovary. The right ovary was left in tact so that I could avoid early onset osteoporosis and avoid hormone replacement.

From 2017 - 2023, I honestly thought I was losing my mind. The misery post partial hysterectomy took a toll on my mental health. I continued with my annual exams with my OB and every blood test I was faced with the same response "normal range."

After seeing a few ads on Facebook for Luminous Health & Wellness, I decided to schedule a consult in August 2023. After my first visit with Dr. Medina, I already felt as if someone was finally listening to me. She drew blood to test my hormones. The next day, she called me and asked me to come back to visit with her.

Post bloodwork, Dr. Medina told me something obviously was not right. My estrogen level was comparable to that of a female in her first trimester of pregnancy. With only one ovary remaining, it did not make sense to her. She advised that I needed to schedule an appt with my OB; discuss completing my hysterectomy to remove the right ovary & then running another round of bloodwork after that.

I left her office & drove straight to Kelsey Seybold where I scheduled and appt with Dr. Faunda Armstrong, OBGYN. I had never visited with her. The next week on my visit, she ordered blood work. The bloodwork came back the next day, my estrogen level was even higher. She said she had never seen anything like it and she said that she agreed that it may be best to remove the remaining ovary. Prior to surgery, she sent me for a pelvic ultrasound and order cancer screening; all of which was also normal. Surgery was scheduled for Oct 5, 2023, at St. Lukes Hospital in The Woodlands.

On the day of surgery, I was told that I would be in and out in a few hours and ready to go home an hour or so after surgery. Unfortunately, surgery did not go as planned.

Once Dr. Armstrong got inside, she found that I had an incredible amount of scar tissue around my colon. To even get to the right ovary, the scar tissue had to be removed. At that point, she had to stop and bring in a colorectal surgeon. The colorectal surgeon came in to remove the scar tissue & once he was able to expose what was behind it; he found that my left ovary was still fully in tact and fused to my colon which was on the verge of collapsing. Between the two of them, they removed the scar tissue, both the intact left & right ovary & repair my collapsing colon.

I was under the impression after my partial hysterectomy that all but the right ovary had been removed. My insurance was billed as such. The medical records that I obtained from the OB that completed my partial; also indicated that the ovary had been removed. I trusted my OB without questioning.

It is now Dec 12, 2023, and I am completely healed from the completion of my hysterectomy. I visited with Dr. Medina last week and she drew blood. My blood work finally came back in a range to where I was now eligible for Biote pellets.

The insertion took maybe 15 minutes, I experienced no pain whatsoever & the incision is very small. After 4 days, I can already tell a huge difference. I mean huge!

I have more energy, no longer having PMS type symptoms, hot flashes are minimal & I am sleeping so good.

Dr. Medina could have just inserted pellets after my initial consult; but, she didn't. She knew something wasn't right and she cared about me enough as a patient to guide me in making some "very right" decisions.

I highly recommend her & I am so glad I am investing now in the Biote pellets. Life changing in only a week!
