French's Shoes and Boots — Local services in Athens

Kind of shocked when I walked in and the men's clothes were gone. Wide range of boots but the old store was our go to for jeans, long sleeve shirts, and work clothes. I an hard to fit at 78" tall and 280 lbs and only wear wrangler. I used to walk in with the style numbers and sizes for the three styles that I wear. Would hand a few pair of jeans to the clerk to take the front and and I did not have to bother trying them on. Then I would look at the work and dress shirts. Shopping for boots was also easy back then. All the styles were lined up on the wall, the knowledgeable clerk would discuss your needs and would retrieve the multiple pair for you to choose from. I bought many pairs of boots from them. Now you just wonder the aisle trying to compare this boot with the pair three aisles over. The clerk tries to help but he was trying to help several people at the same time so I was on my own. I don't know the French's chain but I wish they would stock more men's clothes, put the boots back on the wall, and train up the clerks on the products on hand. I only buy a pair of shoes/boots every year or two but I buy stack of jeans and shirts every year for me...

They will not accept a slightly worn boot for return or exchange. I bought a pair of boots for work which requires a good bit of hiking. After wearing them for not even an hour, I knew they were not the right boot for what I was looking for. They were worn on dry ground with no mud or water. I tried to exchange them for another pair, not even for a return, and was denied. So now I'm stuck with a $200 pair of boots that is not what I want for the purpose I bought them for.
