I was not going to write a review at first but my baby (my dog) has been suffering so much that it breaks my heart and makes me so very angry.
I took my two pups to this boarding as a last minute thing since we really didnât know we were even going to need daycare for them. This was our first time in any boarding place and probably the last. They were able to accommodate them for a couple hours and I chose to have them bathe and have a mini groom service to their face, paws and lady parts.
When I picked them up, one of my pups could not open her eye. At first, I thought she just had hair in it because it has happened before but after a few minutes, I tried to see and she wouldnât let me and cried in pain. I then took her to the urgent care vet and they found that she has a corneal ulcer from some sort of trauma. They sent her home with two medications and she is in so much pain, she barely lets me close.
I am so very angry at the groomer, they even say that there was no incident. I know my dog and I know she wiggles but never had complaints from other groomers in her 3 years of life. I would expect that if a groomer is having a hard time, instead of forcing the service, they would be honest and say âhey, I didnât want to hurt her so we couldnât get it done because she squirms too muchâ. Instead, I just had an apology from the manager and a refund from the baths and mini grooming, which I definitely appreciate, but I would have preferred to have had the vet also paid because she does have a wound.
Manager commented that I signed the contract and accepted that they are not liable for anything that could happen and this really rubbed me the wrong way. I went back to the contract and it say the following: I HEREBY KNOWINGLY AND VOLUNTARILY ASSUME ALL RISKS (INCLUDING THE RISKS DESCRIBED ABOVE), WHETHER SUCH RISKS ARE KNOWN OR UNKNOWN, FORSEEABLE OR UNFORSEEABLE, OR CAUSED BY THE NEGLIGENCE OF BARKING HOUND VILLAGE OR ANY OTHER PERSON OR ENTITY.
Does this mean that the can be negligent?! I expect at least some kind of adult behavior and accountability from the groomer; if the dog doesnât let you, then itâs better to leave it be. Itâs the life of pets we are talking about. I would not recommend getting any of your pets groomed here. Specially with the whole you accept the risks of our negligence. Again, I really appreciate the owner trying to make it somewhat better and for his apology but after seeing the pain my baby is in, it was not enough. We donât even know if her eye is going to heal properly. Take my advice, no face...
Read moreInn at Barking Hound on Lambert Drive is fantastic in every way. I have been bringing my babies there for 25 years and now that we have 2 dogs that love to play (Charlie-English Cream Golden & Joey-Collie) we love bringing them to their "puppy hotel". The manager, Brooks, is beyond amazing and has taken special care to look after our boys (as I am admittedly an overprotective dog mom). Brooks also is careful to select the very best team and every single person that works with the dogs truly loves and adores them. They know them by name and know which of their dog friends they enjoy playing with. They are outside for fun non-stop throughout the day. They always come home happy & tired. We love the "report card" we get in email during their stay with photos of them having fun in the yard with their friends. We also caught on camera recently one of their star employees, Bebe, who went into Charlie & Joey's suite and got down on the floor to play with them and give them hugs and butt scratches....just because she wanted too. Jason is another employee who we have seen playing with the boys in the yard and hugging on them to give them love & attention, like we do at home. He also gives the best baths. I highly recommend the Inn at Barking Hound and don't think you will find a better team to care for your babies. The entire team is wonderful under...
Read moreI checked in my two dogs at this location just once last year.
I didn't realize until I picked them up and got home that one of my pups had his paw pad's skin broken. This happened because their ground is covered in little stones, pebbles/rocks instead of grass (or fake grass, or rubbery flooring). That was a pity.
So maybe not all dogs will get hurt but mine did and I find it quite disheartening. Apart from this I think my pups enjoyed the company of other dogs, they also got a bath prior to pick up and got new bandanas which was nice. But unfortunately, I for instance, can't afford an injured dog every time because they decide to maintain the grounds where these dogs play with a material that is prejudicial to the animals' well being. Because of this I would not leave my dogs there again, or anywhere else where the ground is unsafe for the animals.
Just have a grassy ground where the potential for injuries...
