I've been bringing my students into Atlanta for a Trees Atlanta tour every year since 2014 (w/ the exception of 2020 - 2022, which was a shame b/c outside was one of the safer places to be).
Both before and after the pandemic, Trees Atlanta staff and docent/tour guides have been kind, flexible, understanding, easy to work with and so incredibly helpful for my students. Trees Atlanta tour guides went above and beyond the standard Eastside BeltLine Arboretum tour and embedded the curriculum of the class I teach into the tour in order to give the students the best possible learning experience.
I teach in one of the cities nearby Atlanta, but many students who have lived in the suburbs of Atlanta their entire lives are not that familiar with the city (and economic engine) at the heart of this metro area. When you just cost me $75 for the phone call that I now have to get credit from Google for because you're not a customer? Super...
Read moreAs a lover of The Atlanta Beltline trail, I'm always noticing the great job Trees Atlanta is doing along the path. They're committed to protecting and improving Atlanta's urban forest by planting and conserving trees and beautiful plant life. They're headquartered in Southwest Atlanta, right off of the Westside Beltline trail. They have excellent volunteer programs that students and adults can participate in. Their mission is also to educate the community on native plant life and caring for trees. They have a cool little nature trail outside the headquarters building. They do important work to keep Atlanta's green space thriving. If you value nature conservancy, they're worth researching to see how you and your kids can...
