Update: Due to a health condition, I was unable to stand going to this lovely gym any longer as my life stress increased. It's really loud there sometimes, and people do drop their weights.
I was looking forward to going back eventually, when my gym payment information was stolen mid-mental breakdown. The gym demanded payment with increasing frequency and amount and it felt really invasive at the time, though understandable for their business.
I'm sad that this gym is no longer a good environment for me, and disappointed in their management of this business area, when the staff have focused on creating a good environment for weight trainers.
The staff is super friendly and laid back. There's a large assortment of equipment and spacious floor plan that will accommodate Crossfit, body building, weightlifting, powerlifting, and I've seen some strongman equipment, like log press there as well.
I like that they seem to always be looking to expand or improve to make the experience there better, and it's awesome to support a local business and not have to compromise. Tiger Iron is way better than any chain gym I've been to. While its equipment might not be as shiny and polished as the University's Rec Center, I think they make up for it with the culture. In addition to their great staff, I feel like I'm training with grit at a gym with character.
As a women, I've never felt "creeped" on there. Members usually mind their own business, but I've had a few tell me that my bench is strong or something like that. All in all, Tiger Iron is a...
Read moreThis place has a ton of of potential that the owners simply don’t care to tap in to. There’s a lot of really great equipment, but a lot of it is severely neglected. (Ex: wrong length cables so tension isn’t right, diff stacks on each side of cables, filthy equipment, etc). They have posing rooms, but they are not available outside of staffed hours, so don’t plan on doing your morning checkins in them unless you wait until 8am. No one re-racks their weights which is extremely frustrating, and it doesn’t appear that they clean more than a quick vacuuming. There are also not barbell pads or ankle straps outside of staffed hours, so ladies-be sure to have your own on glute day if you lift outside of staffed hours! Lots of cardio equipment, and enough equipment for every style of workouts (powerlifting, bodybuilding, CrossFit). Cheap day/week passes if you’re visiting from out of town, and 24 hour access once signed up. Like I said - lots of untapped potential that the owners don’t want to hear or address when brought to their attention. I’m a bodybuilder who has owned a very successful gym that drastically increased upon ownership, so this isn’t coming from a...
Read moreI LOVE this place. My now husband showed me this place awhile back and I like it. Then we tried out the crunch AU and I had to come back to tiger because there is no comparison. Yes, it is slightly dirty but absolutely cleaner than crunch AU. This gym is perfect because it is available 24/7, and no one will bother you at all. I can work out whenever I have a spare moment, and do not have to worry about people bothering me. They have towels which is a bonus. After seeing the gyms out there, I will always go to Tiger Iron. I am so comfortable there, and I love that they implement a shirt always policy so I do not have to see shirtless guys everywhere. My husband also appreciates that guys do not bother to hit on me here. Thank you for the simplicity it is truly the hidden gem of gyms in this area. OH and sometimes they play classic...
