Great experience! Really liked the home-made food bar (Flautas were a hit with my daughter, the Barbacoa pictured below on a tortilla & heated up at home was tasty with flavors of clove & cinnamon, and their home-made Tamales were nothing short of excellent -- some of the best in Chicago!). The staff was very helpful so be sure to ask them for any questions (I was looking up a name on a package on my phone, in my search for Mexican Oregano, and one of the people who worked there stopped to help me with that, confirmed my other purchase of dry white corn as I try to make Pozole, and even recommended the amount of pork shoulder to buy). The bakery items looked delicious, and the meat & fish counter was very well maintained, as was all of the store for that matter. I've ordered catering from here quite a few times and I always say I will do a review but forget. I ordered catering again this weekend and everything was piping hot and delicious. I ordered beef barbacoa, mexican rice, refried beans, salad, nopales (cactus), salsa and even chips and tortillas. (I've had mole, pollo en crema, guisados- all delicious) Everyone raved about the food and asked where I ordered it from. And the portions are very generous! I'm a new fan of their chips and tortillas too. They tasted homemade. I discovered they are from their own tortilleria in Aurora- El Valle Florido. I will be making stops there for sure.
