My daughter came to get blood work done today after seeing gastroenterology. She was ordered to get some blood drawn and was having a hard time. Skylar the lab assistant was not only rude, but impatient, inconsiderate, and she was very obviously hurting my child. I asked her to take the needle out of the arm she stuck. I asked her to do so because she was digging around underneath the skin to try and find a vein because she “almost got it” (which might I add is NOT THE WAY TO FIND THE VEIN.) she then tried the left arm where she did the same thing and blew my daughters vein on that side. After telling her to take the needle out once again (because she continued to try and force the blood draw after the vein blew), she made a rude comment saying and I quote “I had it that time but then…” and stopped talking insinuating that she had it when she was in fact digging around underneath the skin. She also said it was because I couldn’t keep my daughters arm straight, which I replied well I Wouls be freaking out too if someone was poking around under my skin with a needle. She had an attitude from the moment I walked in the office and I will make sure that she never touches my daughter again. She needs to learn that she is working in PEDIATRIC LAB. I am appalled at her actions and she needs to have some serious training before she touches another poor baby. I am in giving this two stars because the older lab tech who poked her for the third and final time did it within 20 seconds and was so sweet and patient with my...
Read moreUPDATE Unfortunately I have to take my 5 star review back. My daughters doctor's office called to ask if we went to get her blood work done, I let them I had and they said they called and there was no record of her getting it done. Her doctor called repeatedly and no one would answer, I called and left voicemails, no answer or call back. We were going to have to get her blood drawn again because no one would answer the phone and tell us what happened. Our doctor's office finally found out(after jumping through many hoops) that our daughter's blood had been sent to the wrong lab. Thankfully we found out before we took her to get it done again. I understand mistakes happen but at the very least you could answer the phone or call someone back. I do not recommend this place. It's very disappointing and unsettling. Careless mistake and no customer service.
We had to take our 3 week old to get blood work done and our doctor recommended this location. I was super nervous, I couldn't imagine how they would be able to take blood from such a tiny baby and was afraid they would have to stick her multiple times. I couldn't have asked for a better experience! The guy that drew the blood was so gentle and kind, another nurse helped hold her arm still and she was so sweet to get the whole time. It was over in a few seconds and I think I cried more than my baby. They made it the best possible experience it could have been and I definitely...
Read moreFirst, the good: The actual blood draw process was quick and they did it quite easily. The techs were clearly good at what they do and it took only a couple minutes. They got a vein on first stick and were very nice to my screaming toddler.
However, the wait time was 30 minutes (granted, without an appointment) and I was very concerned about the lack of following COVID-19 protocols while we were forced to sit in the waiting room (they do not let you leave).
The chairs are not spaced out appropriately (they are about 3 feet apart) and other patients were wearing their masks pulled down off their faces. I saw several children who were clearly older than 2 not wearing masks in the building, and children came over to try to interact with other children in the waiting room. Most of this is on the parents - they did nothing to keep their unmasked child away from others. However, when I have recently gone to other medical facilities with my child, they have a screening procedure and stop you from entering the building if you are not wearing a mask appropriately. They also have the waiting room chairs actually spaced out so you are not sitting next to others and they require an appointment so that there are not too many people in the waiting room at once. It seems that Dell Children's is not taking COVID-19 seriously, which is frustrating and concerning as a parent of a child who is too young to get vaccinated or...
