This property claims to be a 2-star hotel. According to Google that would include the following. I'll then tell you where this property falls short:
Rooms: Clean, comfortable rooms with private bathrooms, TVs, phones, and hygiene essentials. The room was clean but NOT comfortable.
Amenities: Limited amenities like free Wi-Fi, daily housekeeping, and sometimes breakfast
Services: 24-hour front desk access and owner/staff availability by phone
Dining: On-site restaurant or dining area serving breakfast weekly and dinner at least five days a week
This Motel 6 offer NONE of these except a clean room, comfortable bed, decent shower and heat. You always get that from Motel 6. But NONE of the rest at this property.
I have never had roaches at a Motel 6. This was a first. The air in the room was "clammy." So humid papers curled. This is because the condensate drain is plugged. The same waterlogged air keeps getting over chilled and recirculaed. Damp bedding. Very unpleasant. After repeated requests to have the desk and both bedside reading light bulbs replaced, I finally went to Home Depot and bought $38 worth of 2-prong florescent bulbs and replaced them myself. I also had to replace the TV remote batteries. Other than that the TV worked, but the sound was mushy. Had to manually override the toilet float valve to get enough water in the tank to flush. The vending machines were ALL empty. The sign said "See office." They were also out of everything. Every washer and every dryer in the coin laundry was "out of order" the whole 14 days I was there. 20% of the time the Internet was non-existent. Not weak or intermittent a "strong" wifi network signal, just no Internet, like they didn't pay the ISP bill. I need Internet for business. I finally called the Motel 6 complaint line and things did improve a lot. The house phone did not work so cell was the only way to reach the office. But that didn't work when the Internet was down because their outside phone lines run on VoIP. Since the office door was locked 24/7, the sign said "Use night window," which was 70 feet from Interstate 35 and on the same grade, so you had to yell. This is not a high crime area, I think they keep the door locked to discourage complaints. And it worked. I finally quit.
In terms of maintenance, the room interior was "Motel 6 OK," good paint, etc. The outside, sidewalks and stairwells weren't. The big stuff got picked up, but pizza crusts, cigarette butts, sporks, beer tabs, bottle caps, condoms, all the little stuff that doesn't blow or wash away and would be hard to pick up just accumulated.
I've stayed at Motel 6 many times and they have mostly been "good enough." But since the advent of Studio 6, the Motel 6 properties have slowly slipped to 1-Star. Google that and you'll get a fair description of this facility. Except for the clammy air, faulty toilet, missing light bulbs, empty vending machines, defunct laundry, exterior filth, unreliable Internet and inaccessible office. Oh yeah, and roaches.
PS: I did have a 15 lb. dog. He loves to run away, so I put a note on the door, "Dog inside, do not open." This is the excuse I was given for no A/C maintenance, toilet or light bulb service. I said I was there working 90% of the time and would make a point of being there if I knew when he would come, but no maintenance man ever knocked. I really doubt there was one. Unless you absolutely can afford no better, stay...
Read moreDo NOT STAY HERE!!! This is the worst experience ive ever encountered in hospitality.. . the man was absolutely the worst employee ive ever seen.. He was discriminating. To me and my disabled famous friend the legendary chris fonsaca.. We had reserved a room but was not informed about the after 3 check in.. We had got a uber from the austin airport to take us to the motel so we can get the room.. I get there and i ask if they have a luggage rack so i can put all our bags on there... He dosent even answer my question but automatically tells me there are no rooms available.. Mind you when i had called the guy said they had plenty of room at that location.. So first lie was told automatically before even getting to say anything.... Then i tell him we have a reservation for chris..so while the uber driver was unloading our bags as well as my disabled friend in his wheelchair, he comes out and tells us that we cant stay there on the property and we couldn't go into the closed lobby to wait for our room.. He told us we had to leave and to get off the property or he would call the cops... I am disabled as well and he wanted me to wheel my disabled famous friend off the property with all our luggage.. I tell him i cannot do that for i am disabled to and we have no where to go or ride to get there.. He gose back in and locks the door.... Comes back and says that he canceled our reservation and we need to get off the property before he calls the cops.. So i had no choice but to carry all our luggage to the public sidewalk and wheel my friend to the public sidewalk being disabled myslef.. I cannot believe such disabled discrimination in my life plus to a famous comedian as well as myslef.. He was very rude...hostle.. Unsympathetic, hateful, spiteful and down right dont deserve his job.. I hope he gets fierd and my friend sues motel 6 for disability abuse or neglect or even harassment..all these occurred to the both me and my friend.. I really hope he loses his job..he was not only rude to us but other customers as well.. I seen him tell other customers he had no rooms but definitely had plenty to fill up.. He is just is a awful man and a horrible employee.. Definitely never had such discrimination like that before and hope to never again.... Do not stay here!!! The maids were rude n uncaring as well... No humans work here.. Just heartless people...
Read moreStayed two nights to escape Hurricane Harvey. The first thing we noticed as we walked in was that the room smelled of cigarettes. This should not have been the case in a non-smoking room, but there were cigarette burns in the bedspread and blanket. The room was bare-no artwork on the walls, no alarm clock, exactly two towels, and not even an extra roll of toilet paper. Theft must be an issue. I've never stayed someplace that didn't at least provide a sample size bottle of shampoo. At least there was a small bar of soap for the sink and one for the shower. Speaking of the shower, the water pressure was so low I had difficulty rinsing my short hair. There was no hot water and the tub was dirty and s drained extremely slow. The first night, we had uninterrupted power, but the lights flickered in the front half of the room on the second day and the AC went out. The lights continued to flicker until they wouldn't come on at all. The only lights that worked were over the sink and above the shower. When we tried speaking to the front desk about the air, we were asked to be patient but never given any solution. We slept in the damp heat and packed up the second morning to come back to our home even though we knew the power was still out. If you read this and still decide to stay, good luck to you. If you have children, do not let them roam unattended. There were some sketchy characters doing business in the...
