Insanely loud when busy. Unpleasant and really hard to hear scoring call outs. If your playing partners are quiet folks, get ready to get confused

Really, really stupid paddle line system. The rack overflows, paddles get out of line, people skip. I don't know how you'd spend so much time and $$$ building a place like this and screw up on basic details like this.

No waiting area, and nowhere to put your stuff. Everyone just congregates by bathrooms on the far end of the building. Super barebones. Everyone's stuff is just thrown on the floor and we're all just standing around it.

It really just feels like the developers were like "pickleball is popular let's capitalize on it" without doing any of the work to actually make this is a good facility for pickleball.

Right now, this is looks, feels, and sounds like a middle school gym with some courts. I hope to see the sport grow and more places like this pop up, but $140/mo for this? Insanity. ABP is right next door and is $90 a month and offers.

Eastside's "Standard of Procedure" reads like West side hoa bylaws. Some entertaining stuff here:

"The Open Play Coordinator has the authority to change rules such as scoring and the amount of players to come off after a game is over based on how busy the facility is at any given time."

"Phone call to ESPC 2 hours prior to reservation REQUIRED for no penalty. 1st offense: Written e-mail notice 2nd offense: $40 Fee to account 3rd offense: Reservation privileges revoked for 2 weeks."

"Going forward, each reservation must list all participating players. ... YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ADD STANDARD MEMBERS TO PREMIUM MEMBER RESERVATIONS. However, the front desk will be able to override this. Please let them know that a standard member will be joining the reservation."

"While your guest passes remain valid, usage is restricted: No guest passes Monday through Thursday from 4 PM to Close."

"5 minute warm up, TIMED. 20 minute TIMED matches on the Three Courts at the same time. No exceptions!! ... How we start of event [sic] to be determined."

I was visiting Austin for about 7 weeks and looking for a place to play pickleball. I played at most of the places both indoor and outdoor - and Austin is lucky to have so many great options! Ultimately I decided to join Eastside Paddle Club for two reasons: 1 - the people that work there are great! Friendly and helped me get established with other players for daily games 2 - all I have to do is show up every day around 4-5pm and there were always great games and people to play with. I didn't have to set anything up or reserve anything or ever get shut out of playing like some places. You won't regret picking EPC! Made my time in Austin even more...
