Specifically went to Medici the new coffee shop on my way to work. Much of the indoor and outdoor sitting space is connected to other businesses which is great in terms of overflow. You can see from the pictures the sitting areas are designed for patrons to spend time gathering together.
I enjoyed a cold brew coffee, black so no cream no sugar. This coffee is amazing. It went down super smooth without any burnt or bitter taste. The flavor blend is La Morena but I think the coffee flavors will change seasonally.
I had not realized this is a chain shop. I have not been to other locations but I'm pleased to have a strong brand representative convenient to my commute area. The reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is the beer and snack selection. These are 2 areas desperately needing improvement. It your going to have a beer/coffee hub in the heart of Austin's growing and gentrification boom, you need more than 5 taps and should be from local breweries. Snack wise if your doors open at 6am but the tacos aren't there till 8am, that's a no-go because most people in this town don't want to eat sugar carbs/donuts and bagels for breakfast. We crave substance. The bar setup/design is a bit backwards but I was there very early in the morning so no one was there to make it difficult to get my drink in a hurry.
I plan to return to try some of the hot offers when the Texas heat breaks....
Read moreIt's a chill spot for fine coffee and occasional pastries if you're there during the 2 hour window of the bakery business hours. There's a bunch of specialized 'art' spots that also never seem to be open. I'm actually not sure how most of the occupants pay rent there with such limited hours, but it seems to work. Parking was under-thought, but if you're not biking to this place than why are you even coming over? The design of the place is awesome. I'm surprised how few people I ever see use the space to its potential. Michael Hsu must shake his head during site visits. Sometimes I pop over on a full moon and blaze on the back deck/amphitheater that is never featuring anything. Coffee roasting keeps the air smelling nice and height of the structures provide a lot of shade along the breezy corridors. Lots of (empty) bike racks for the units, only a couple of spots to grab lunch in the...
Read moreIt's an industrial style business park with a good mix of public facing and closed offices. There's some fitness businesses like Pilates and aerial gyms and several artist coops.
For me, the real attraction is the food court area right at the front. Cafe Medici coffee shop, Julie Myrtle French bakery, The Front Page Pub, and Uroko sushi. They have a really great outside shaded patio as well as very large inside seating area with tables, bar seating, and booths to work from. Good vibes, great place to study, work, or have a meeting. And you can mix and match a coffee with a pastry and switch to a beer when the...
